GENERAL Sammy spoofed as liteon problem

I have a sammy ms28 drive that been spoofed as a liteon and I'm wanting to revert it back to a sammy, it's showing as a liteon in jf but I can't get it into vendor mode, I don't have the original firmware and it's already been previously flashed.

I've tried sammy unlock normal, tray half open and with the activate.iso have tried intro read etc even tried probing for bad flash and intro but no luck

I already have the DVD key as I hav rgh it and I tried liteon erase, tried loading stock firmware and manual spoofing etc but it just won't seen to work.

Any help on getting this back to a sammy would be great

Could you post a screenshot of the JF app where its ID'ing the drive?

Does it Eject?

if probing MPX01 didn't work, you are doing something wrong

probing MPX01 NEVER fails to get a drive into vendor mode, unless the drive is physically fried

its a rather simple process:

1. intro, press yes
2. probe MPX01
3. power on drive
4. get 0x70
5. if you don't have good flash chip properties after this, press intro again

MPX01 does not exist..

I hate trying to resolve spoofed drives, its always a pain, lol.

I'm gathering mpx01 on the sammy is the point it shows u in the jf manual? When I probes that the flash properties cane up unknown one time they did come up but said invalid status when trying to write

Actually, I have flashed/replaced all xbox360 phat drives at least 100 times or more each, so I know MPX01 is a point on a liteon drive PCB where I use a probe to read the key.

He stated he has a Samsung MS28, spoofed as a liteon, which means its not a liteon drive, but a samsung drive, spoofed.

I may be a n00b member here, but I have much experience on this than you think.

The drive is a samsung, we need more information on the issues at hand to help the OP solve the situation.

Oh and BTW, I have learned everything I know from the JF Manual, and learned a few more tricks with my experience.

no, its not a weird issue. in fact, its quite common.

Using sammy unlock on old ixtreme fw will often kill the ability to get into vendor mode via commands.

Ergo, probing MPX01.

Like I said before, I have much experience in flashing/replacing, but not spoofing, I was just trying to help, I'm glad you taught me something, I know now. Thanks.

This is why I never spoof a drive, it always ends up in problems.

Good luck. You have the x360usb pro, which means your chipset you are using is optimal. This means that the problems you have aren't related to a poor flashing situation.

If you get stuck with unknown flash chip status even after pressing intro a couple times while in vendor mode, its likely that your SPI on your sammy is dead/dying.

It would definitely not be the first time i've seen that happen.

After reading up on these situations more I have gathered some more info on the problem at hand.

The second screenshot, shows drive in vendor mode, but the log says failed, is that screenshot accurate?

If so, I would imagine you can simply write the samsung firmware, Manually spoof the key you want to use, in the firmware tool 32 tab. Then in the MTK flash 32 tab, click write.

That is assuming your actually in vendor mode and its in a writable state.

Check again following instructions from the official JF manual, start on page 197.

interesting, the keys with sammys are automatically extracted and verified upon detection in jf
