hi i have a couple of ? to ask
1 when you run samread,is that what saves your orin.bin, and does it save the drive key to the backup folder
2 when does the drive become bricked is it during the flashing,or can it happen at anytime during the process
saving the drive key and orin.bin seems very important,is it very likely that process could be messed upped.
just trying to get my ducks in a row before i start thanks for the help

1) Yes, and the drive key is within the orig.bin file itself, it's not a separate file or anything that you can open up and read.

2) Bricking would only happen during flashing, as simply reading the firmware does not change anything on the DVD drive itself.

Of course, it actually prompts you to reboot after SAMREAD finishes. At that point you'd want to boot back into Windows and copy (and email yourself) orig.bin before proceeding. This also gives you a chance to manually run Keychecker in Windows and make sure everything matches on your original and hacked firmware. You'd then boot back into DOS and run SAMHACK.
