Samsung 28 Drive Mode 0800 Problem

So my VT6421L Card finally came today and I tried to install it. I put the card in and then booted into windows and put the disc in and I found it had a tone of drivers.

I located the VT6421 Driver folder and ran the Setup.exe but I keep getting this damn error message 'Error Message: 0x80040702 Failed to Load dll'

so instead I tried to install it the other way by going into the control panel and installing it that way.

It comes up as 2 unrecognized Devices, I got the SATA Raid to install but there is still one left which I don't understand.

If you have the VT6421L please upload your drivers or print screen your control pannel so I can see what it should show up as,

I've googled my heart out, someone please help me. I've been doing some searching and I think the device consists of 2 things.

"Via VT6421 RAID Controller"

And

"Via VT6421 SATA Controller"

Can someone please confirm this?

uninstall it all mate you only want SATA download the drivers from the via website these are the latest for your card..5.40a

So the VIA IDE Falcon Storage Device Driver?

Uninstall the existing drivers?

Did your come up as 2 devices in CP?

I don't use it mate but the main thing is you don't want to install the RAID part

No disrespect mate but it does look a mess and doing things like this i.e talking you through it via tying is even harder.

But i would right click on everything with a "X" and an "!" and uninstall reboot then go into your bios and make sure you have disabled the onboard SATA/RAID functions etc.

Then once windows boots it will do a hardware scan have your new 540a drivers to hand or point windows to the folder you extracted them to and install but i can only assume the drivers will prompt you to install the RAID function "do not install RAID" as you only want the SATA part mate.

Hopefully that should work but i'll be straight with you this is basic pc stuff adding a PCI card like this but i understand it can be frustrating

Agree that you should try 'uninstalling' all the items with problems

You may also want to try right-click on the unknown device, update drivers, and point it to the extracted files from;

okay at this current moment I have done the following.

Downloaded Drivers from various websites, forced the SATA driver installation even though it didn't want to install.

Then I tried to do a samread and it worked, it sucesfully dumpyed the firmware.

Next I did a Samhack and YESS finally it worked.

Okay my first question is about reflashing, do I just run samhack each time now?

I originally flashed with 5.2A firmware and it worked, I'll try a backup and get back to you.

Although I want to flash to that firmware and use the 0800 mode to connect the X360 to PC in order to make backups.

Which backup method is better? Hotswap or 0800 Xbox copy?

I tried the 0800 mode firmware and disc but what unsuccessful in getting the drive recognized in windows, I even tried on both onboard SATA and the card.

I have so many other questions but I'll stop for now.

We should make an FAQ for this community stuff.

Okay I have a new problem, the problem is getting the drive into mode 0800 in order to get it to be recognized in windows.

What firmware does my 360 need to be flashed in order for this to work?

I burnt blank360.iso which is 253MB to a dual layer DVD and tried the connection but when I boot into windows it never shows up.

Okay yet another update, Damn I gotta Start doing this right the first time then I wouldn't be in this mess.

So I did the following.

Download Xtreme33.rar and burnt enable0800.iso to DLDVD then finally got the drive recognized in windows.

So I'm trying a Gears of War backup and its not exactly doing a one click copy. (see this post for more info:http://www.360mods.net/Forums/viewtopic/t=863.html)

I'm going to try some other games I own like Saints Row.

Some suggestions:

1. Get one of the recommended Kreon drives, then you won't need to use your xbox drive all the time to make backups
2. Flash to 4.2 (my personal preference) or 5.2, as with 3.3 and a MS28, you may get E66 error on Live update (unless you used the latest x360sam, which should patch it automatically)

Yea I'm planning to as I've already put my 360 Back together and every time I buy a game I couldn't be bothered opening it up again.

Oh and I'm running Firmware 5.2B which is working great for games and the lower speed means noise reduction which is good to.
