Samsung Drive Question

My new xbox has a Samsung drive in but it won't play DVD+Rs, it'll play only -R's. I was under the impression that the Samsungs were the $hit? My old philips played everything i threw at it. Whats the deal? I may have to ebay me a philips.

i heard there was a so-so uprgrade, as far as difficult to a sammy andi guess it made it the shi* THEN lol lemme get back to you

If you look on the newer Samsung Drives there is a Firmware Update from the older drives.I have 2,one manufactured in 2002 with F/W x010 that reads anything I throw at it and the other that was manufactured in 2004 with F/W x204 that has problems reading CD-R's,DVD+R's, and certain DVD-R's.I've also worked on(Modded) other Xbox's and have found the same thing,the newer Samsungs just aren't what they used to be.So if you have the newer version of the Samsung drive then ,sadly, the Philips drive does perform better.
