SAMSUNG MS28 Samsung ms28 reads but wont write (Invalid status 0x0)

Hi i have sucsessfully flashed my samsung ms28 back to stock and updated my dash to 13599 i am now trying to get fashed to lt+2.0 but having a problem to write.

hmm ok- something I've never had to do. Either sammy unlock or vendor intro has worked for me every time.

Try sending the Vendor Intro again or Sammy Unlock.

Hi martin i saw tutorial here on this site by ubergeek, it does work its the only way to get into vendor mode nothin else works sometimes if i dont remove probe 3 quick enough it says unknown type in chip properties.

i am now getting it to write but fails every time the pc freezes, the only way to get it to start to write is by loading jf, going to f/w tool load orig.bin as source then autoload 2.0 go back to mtk flash get drive to vendor with probe with good chip properties and hit write if i go back to f/w tool it seems to take drive out of vendor, as soon as im in vendor i have to click write or it throws errors. one step futher then one step back very odd?

yes i've currently tried fujitsu amilo laptop with dual core and a desktop with p4ht
i have a new one with a core i7 i shall give that a go and let you know.

i must admit samsung drives can be a pain for some unknown reason, i usually come accross a stubborn one sometimes that doesnt even be seen by jf, but tray half open and vender intro works a treat, just have to persevere mate.

does it fail at same point everytime or in different places?

have now tried on x3 desktops & 4 laptops and still the same problem freeze during write
i am now wondering if any of my equipment is faulty?
any ideas would be gratefull.

just to add it freezes in random places of write, it wrote all 4 banks then said write failed? at one point.:crazy:

Hi,

Ive had the same issue before, the only way i could get it to work again was to boot in to dos and flash the firmware. For some reason it worked for me. That is a old method tho and you will need to search for the programes and will need a usb pen drive. Maybe you could try it that way.

Not sure mate, but if you can write a older version or write back your orig then maybe try again in windows. I think you need dosflash, and i dont think the x360usb will work in it. But if you have a chipset like via then you should be fine. Also maybe it could be a driver conflict, the jf tut should have a guide for it if you havent looked already.

Also if you have the orig file dumps, if its like the lite-ons and benqs then you dont need the probe to write it. What i do normally is use probev3 then disconnect it and use the normal power cable and write it back. But like i said not sure if thats the case for ms28's i havent done one since 1.9 ix so a few months now.

Hi sorry for the late reply, have been trying to get dosflash to work all day i dont think my comp likes it very much have to look on my motherboard to do the bios protection jumper thing but cant get to work will have another go tomorrow as my head will explode if i carry on. thanx for your help everyone i will let all know how i get on.

Success i have done it finally, i did away with x360usb and used my via pci card with the drivers disabled and worked a treat, i still have to use probe 3 to get vendor but hey who cares if its a challenge its worth it, thanks to all for the help.
