samtool does not run automatically after idump

hello i would like some help please.

i am trying to flash my ms28 drive with iextreme 1.2.

i created a bootable usb key with iprep.

i boot up and idump my s/n, choose my adapter do the 10 sec trick. it reads the original fw but instead of goin to samtool which is the next step in the textbook it says please reboot pc.

so i reboot pc and run samtoold manually and it then says that my hacked bin is not 256kb, i verified and there is a hacked.bin but it is 0kb its like it never got patched.

i dont know what i am doing wrong.
please help!!!

ok man your close do the idump again this time when it says restart the computer( DONT). just leave it alone for a min or two.
samtool will start and then build the hacked firmware.
make sure ALL the other driver in your computer are unplugged

after that make a backup of you orig firmware!
then do the iflash

Or you can run Samtool manually in Windows to create your hacked firmware, then boot back into DOS and do iFlash. To do this create a folder and copy 3 files there:

1) samtool.exe (from root of USB)
2) ixtrem12.bin (also from root of USB)
3) your orig.bin (from \BACKUPS\xxxxxxx\yyyyy folder on USB)

Then open a command prompt in Windows and switch to the folder you created and run:

samtool orig.bin ixtrem12.bin

You should get a message about keys matching and a green success. Then rename ixtrem12.bin to hacked.bin and copy to the \BACKUPS\xxxxxxx\yyyyy folder on the USB. Boot back into DOS and proceed with iFlash.

hi, all my drives are disconnected and i waited 5 mins, still says reboot pc.
i will try to do it manually as stated in the above suggestion.

is this a common problem that it doesn't run samtool automatically??? or am i just one of the lucky ones

Nah, I get the same problem whenever I flash an xbox.

I reboot the PC as it says and boot up using the USB flash drive and then run the samtool from the command prompt. Just look inside the iDump batch file to see the command and the switches you need to use.

ok i manged to get my drive flashed, i did the samtools manually as stated in the previous reply.

BUT NOW I HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM!!

if i boot an original disk or any backup, i get a white screen that comes up and says " to play this disk, put it in an xbox 360 console"

What now!!!! is the drive screwed, please help!!!

Ok no need to panic just yet. (as long as you still have a good orig.bin)

What you have done is flashed your drive with a firmware that has not had your drive key added to it.

Put your drive key from the orig.bin into a hacked.bin and flash the drive with that. All should be fine.

First run this command
copy ixtreme.bin Backups\%1\%2\hacked.bin

Then run this one
SamTool Backups\%1\%2\orig.bin Backups\%1\%2\hacked.bin

In both of the above commands you will need to replace %1 and %2 with the two parts of your serial number.

That should sort it.

hey finally got it to work.
i downloaded 360 fw toolbox and verified they keys for both my orig.bin and hacked.bin...
they key was all ffffffffffff on the hacked.bin so i just copied and pasted the right key in, then i followed englishbryans procedure in the previous post to reflash!

Voila everything running perfect.

Thanks to all for the help and i would like to say that this site is really cool, people helpin each other is the way to go!
