You know the sata cable? I was told it was very weak and by unplugging it with your fingers could break it? o_O true or what?

I've unplugged and replugged sata cables over and over, haven't had one break yet. Just have to be careful and pull from the connector and not the wire if u can help it.

Ah nice to know. The reason behind the thread I was recently watching a video regarding taking the whole xbox apart and he took the cable out with a pair of plyers and stated that if you do it with your finger it may break!

It's is possible for them to go bad though. There was a post the other day where someone was having an issue and it ended up being a faulty SATA cable. Myself, I was fighting to get a hard drive to be recinigzed by my PC and it ended up being a bad SATA cable.

True, I never said it couldn't happen, just to be careful. I have loads of spare sata cables knocking about anyway so its no biggie to just replace them if they go bad.

Nope you sure didn't say that. I just thought if add some of my experiences and at the same time wanted the OP to be aware it is possible for them to go bad. And ya, I have a lot of them laying around as well.

As the others have said, If you keep a small amount of pressure centered on the cable when your pulling and not flexing it back and forth your good.
I personally have never had anything break or come loose but there is always the chance even if you are being careful, Nothing is 100% all the time. But for 99% of the time, Grabbing it with your fingers and giving it a tug is good enough imho.

It's not recommended to pull on the cable but when the connector is too small you don't really have much choice. I've always managed to maintain a firm grip on the connector and cable, pulls out every time no problem. It's probably more down to some people being heavy handed and clumsy.

I would think using pliers would increase the likelihood of the connector breaking. Since when you use pliers, your multiplying your grasping force.
I just grip on the connector, wiggle it left/right/outward.

Regarding if pulling on the cable itself (not the hard plastic connector head)....I think that's obvious...you don't want to stress the wires.
If it is a must to pull on the cable itself....pull at the cable nearest you can get to the connector.
