Sata Card Setup

OK ive managed to get a hold of a sata card from my mate and was wondering how to set it up, read over manauls and you can setup with or without RAID?? What is this and do or dont i??

Its a Silicon Image SIL3112A Serial ATA Host Controller Chipset

Also what else do i need to set it up correctly? Set my bios to scsi boot up first?

Ok,

If I remember rightly you have a Hitachi drive. Install latest drivers but do not install any Raid s/w. There should not be any bios settings for this card as its a PCI card not part of the systemboard therefore no CMOS settings.

Just after your machine posts you may get a message saying press <CTRL A> to enter Raid utility but I cannot be sure as I do not have this type of card.

From here get drive into modeb and follow rest of tutorial.
