your question does not make sense......

...should read Is it possible to have two SATA ports on the motherboard and not have to use a SATA card?.....

Answer yes and no lol

You deffo have 2 x SATA ports accourding to this....
http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4600/en/4600i/sm/specs.htm#1119251

It depends afaik if your chipset is compatable so you still may need a SATA card.

When you go into the bios (normally F1 or Delete ) you would need to navigate the BIOS (Basic input output system) and make sure RAID is turned off but leave SATA on.....afaik

Go to boot options and have all your devices turned off and only have your first bootable device to be your cd-rom drive on the pc....connect everything up please ensure you use a ground wire between you 360 and pc case I cannot stress this enough.

Your main aim is to get it into Mode 'B'

See how you get on.....

p.s Why make another thread?

p.p.s have you read "textbooks" TUT?

I wanted to mention this ground wire issue, I did it anyway, but I know Textbook mentions it in his vid tutorial, but he is in the States where, at least they did when i lived there, they use 110v ac 2 pin plugs, therefore they have no earth, we in the uk use 230v ac 3 pin, earthed, so the PC is Earthed and so is the xbox 360. So if there was a problem they are automatically earthed through our plugs.

I've read it, but it freezes at the Dell Logo

But you mentioned something, so I'll try that.

Hey PrimitiveX5

"When you go into the bios (normally F1 or Delete ) you would need to navigate the BIOS (Basic input output system) and make sure RAID is turned off but leave SATA on.....afaik"

On my CPU it's F2 - For System setup & F12 - take you to a numbered list
with no bios option

I think I need a CARD

You will know when your in the bios (just checked a basic dell manual system setup is the bios) but typical of companys like dell it's all naff :)

try in drive configuration or intergrated devices for anything to do with raid as you have SATA on your motherboard i can only assume it has SATA but the dell manual is useless to say the least.

even if you want to use a SATA card raid would still need turning off in the BIOS (system setup) assuming it's there lol

Good luck keep me posted

p.s sorry i have taken my time to respond had a nice sunday dinner and had a snooze

Hey PrimitiveX5,

I ordered...

"SYBA SY-VIA-150 PCI SATA / IDE Combo Controller Card, Non Raid - Retail

from http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815124022 "

I ordered it because I'm guessing I needed it. I read the Tuts & watch the video, it's been to 3 hrs (today) (but a week in total). It's has to be my CPU.

will this work? Thanks

It should work mate but you still may need to turn off the onboard SATA on your motherboard but then again you may not.

hopefully this new card will work mate if i'm not around PM me just to let me know as i'm interested :)

cool hope it works but you still made need to navigate the bios to disable what seems to be SATA on your motherboard...

Best of luck
