What is the status of the eject LED during this problem?
Have you ever had the X3 boot successfully?
Ever seen anything on the screen since the install?
Does the console boot normally with the chip removed?
Yes. It was working fine and then at some point is started
going grey and locking.
I can boot with and without the chip. Both of the lights are blue, the first thing I did when it started locking was check the status leds.
I don't know what you mean by ever seen anything on the screen.
I was loading files on the xbox from the auto installer disc the first time it happened. It also causes the disc to spin up. So i tried another disc(retail) and the same thing happens.
I went back over all the traces with a scalpel to make sure none of them were bridged. It started happening when the wire install was done so I switched to pin header because I thought it may have been crosstalk.
Also the screen has been turning into a red box too. Its either grey or red. I have tried both the original cables and the Microsoft Component video pack.
Whenever it does this thought it will not boot up again. I also tried resoldering D0 to make sure it was getting a good connection. The LPC has been completely resoldered and tested using a multi to verify traces up to an inch away.
