Hey guys I was hoping you could help me. I was installing my RGH QSB's and I messed up a little on the J1D2 pad. No pads came off but I just cant get the solder to make a good connection to both the qsb and pad. Here are some pictures:

Can anyone instruct me on how to fix this? I get a "Can not continue" error in nand pro and im sure my soldering is at fault.

Thank you :)

You most def have bridges there. you should first try and clean it up some. Get some of that burnt sh*t off and check your traces. Id say to use desoldering braid and desolder you J1D2. Start over there!

Tip: Put flux on both the qsb pad and the xbox pad. Touch your 15W soldering iron to both the mobo pad and the qsb pad at the same time and then apply your fresh solder. You should be touching for no more that a few seconds.

And stay away from that Cap there before you burn right threw it!

Thanks everyone! Ill get some braid and start over. Idk why this one was giving me so much trouble while the other one did not.

I have a 30W soldering iron that I use as per recommendations from other users.

Oh and @Frazzeld , I cant right now but I clean, tin, and get rid of excess solder after every application of solder.

Again, Thanks everyone!

So if you CAN remove the excess solder, why haven't you done so BEFORE the thread started? Can't you see there's too much solder there?
I can see that I have excess solder but unfortunately I forgot to buy desoldering braid when I went to RadioShack so I cant get rid of it. Otherwise this thread wouldn't be here. I suppose I could do it without braid but i'm not going to risk it.

I'll leave it open as I'm expecting an update once you remove the excess solder.

Could you not tell there was too much solder there before it was pointed out?

I know how to solder. If you saw my other QSB, it was soldered to the board fine.

I knew that there was too much solder, I just didn't know how to handle it and I didnt want to make matters worse and try and fix it without getting advice.

Then why didn't you solder it the same way? that QSB looks pretty burned.

You don't know how to solder or you would have not posted your crappy soldering picture and say it was fine.

I did not say my crappy one was fine.. I even admitted I had difficulty with it. The one I was referring to as "fine" was the other one that soldered well and looked like it flowed nicely.

In other words, I know how to solder, but I had difficulty and couldnt solder that one qsb properly.

Hope that clears it up?
