I'm just sick. After finally getting x3 1959 loaded I was screwing around in the settings menu and changed the video region setting to see if wthat would allow us to play DVD movies. All it did was make the image on the screen roll vertically down over and over. Anyone got a clue as to how I can get the setting back to default. I can still ftp into the xbox and it still plays games. I just can't see anything on the rolling screen to make a change.

Would installing a new dashboard fix it? Or is there a way to reflash the bios to default settings?
I can get to the x3 dashboard by holding the white button while booting but I can't read the screen because it's flipping so fast. How would I navigate to settings - video? If I could get there and change the region setting back it might work.
Whew. I successfully navigated back to video regions and changed the setting back tp pal 1 disabled and the screen stopped rolling. Now I can't seem to ftp to the xbox but games are playng and tomorrow is another day.

Hey guys i am a complete noob to modding. i fixed a few rrod and modded a few wii's but never modded a xbox. well i got my hands on a few rrod's and fixed them up looked up the drives and figured that out of my three drives that the hitachi would be the easiet to mod. So here is how it started i have been messing with this same drive for almost 7 days now. i started on a older computer and i couldnt get my drive to show in the port properties on jungle flasher. So i finally switched computers to my newer compaq, after this the flash went successfully. But like i say i am still a noob i could not get any backups to read my orig played fine but my backups would say open tray and make funny noises when reading. i would get no sign of the xbox wanting to play the backups. So like a noob i just kept trying to flash the drive using different methods. So since my last time of flashing when all the error came in i tried to spoof my drive to a sammy ms25 it was a failure and ever since i have getting the play dvd icon on dash. i still have orig key for hitachi drive. but when i try to flash drive i get (iXtreme file failed MD% hash check!... i am putting my currently dumped firmware in the source and this file key is 00000000000000000000.... i put my hitOFW.bin in target this file has my key bin in it. also both files say that the drive is stock. load your hitachi OFW as source then , mode B and auto spoof.
should flash your drive with your original key and LT Plus 1.1.
then originals should play again - if backups fail at that stage then you need to look at tweaking your laser/cleaning your laser lens.
also what media are you using for your backups? Hitachi are notorious for not reading cheap media.

Start fresh and dont spoof anything unless you are replacing the drive.
I would say your laser has had it if it's reading open tray on backups and some games.
You need to erase the drive. and flash the stock firmware back to the drive.
Then flash ixtreme, ensure you have the correct keys on the drive otherwise it will just show as a dvd.

i did the auto spoof put my oriHIT.bin as source and LTplus59 1.1 as target spoofed to source then i auto spoofed this is my log...

lol oh sry im still getting a bad disc drive play dvd on dash... oh yeah i been noticing that i only have two sectors now if i can recall i had 11 when my dvd drive was good and was playing originals
it only changed 2 sectors thats all.
sadly you seemed to have done so much to it its impossible to tell if your OFW is infact your OFW.
now try selecting restore!
try a DVD movie - see if that works then try an Original game disk. (report back if these work) that will ensure your key is at least correct (unless your laser is totally shot!)

like BH says, POT tweak would have been your best solution
i fondly refer to these drives as "sh*tachis"
it would be best to start over
1. find your OFW
2. restore your drive
3. load OFW as source, and press "auto spoof"
4. flash LT+
5. Mess with POT tweak
whew that feels better ok my hitachi plays originals again now but not backups i am going to go get some more verb dvddl and try burning games the correct way
so you flashed with LT+ again? your key is obviously correct as it plays originals! Try verbs if still not playing then you are looking at POT Tweak and lens clean!
