Heya folks, so Im prepping an SD card to be used in a switch I'm getting tomorrow for SX OS. Im new to Switch modding but have done stuff with CFW on 3DS so I was wondering if I could see how you guys have your folders set up since they generally have to be in specific places. I intend on using it for installing SX OS, loading some XCIs and NSPs as well as RetroArch.

As mentioned hammer it should be in the Manual. Below is what you should use

  • /sxos
  • /sxos/games
  • /sxos/xci
  • /sxos/nsp
  • /sxos/updates
  • /sxos/dlc
  • /switch
  • /switch/games
  • /switch/xci
  • /switch/nsp
  • /switch/updates
  • /switch/dlc

Which manual is it all explained? I've read the two obvious ones -- [EN]_SXOS_v1.3.pdf and [EN]_SX_Pro_v1.3.pdf -- a couple of times, and I'm not finding it. (There's a bit of mention where themes and emulator files need to go, but I'm not finding anything else.)

It's possible it is just in some of the update posts. Maybe the manual needs to be updated again. Either way the structure I posted is what you should use. You can use any of those folders.

Thanks for this information...

In an effort to keep things organized on the SD card... I have a few questions.

What is the difference between the sxos and switch directories?

I have a bunch of split (4gb) xci files. Do I put them in the sxos/xci folder? Can I put the splits in a folder inside the xci folder... Like sxos/xci/Super Mario Odyssey?

The game updates are in the nsp format... So do I put them in the sxos/updates or sxos/nsp?

What is the sxos/games directory for?

Thanks

I think it really just depends how each person wants to keep their stuff organized. As fa as I know you could just dump everything on the root of your SD and it will still read it.

As for the switch folder. You'll always need that as that's where all your homebrew needs to go. I think that was added as a place to scan since some people might want to keep everything in that folder related to modding.

If you use SX Installer do you need to use those directories too or does it scan the entire SD card?
