SDCARD Update Required on 7.0 Why?!

Hey everyone,

so I am a bit confused right now and wanted to ask for some explanation and a tip how I should proceed.
I bought a switch from eBay, which is hackable. on arrival, I noticed the device has the firmware version 7.0 (a bad situation, as 7.0 is not supported yet by SX).
but that is not even the worst part. when I was inserting my 200GB micro sd card, it told me I need to update.

I remember I had the same message back in the days when I was on 4.1, but how comes this message comes on 7.0? shouldn't this firmware not already have the possibility to read sdxc?

How should I proceed now? As the device is already on 7.0 I wonder if I should just update to 7.01 and make the card compatible and wait for SX to release a 7.01 update, or should i wait for the 7.0 update (will there be one? or directly 7.01?) and try to solve the issue while having full sx support and emunand?

Kind regards

2 options for you
1. update to 7.0.1 and wait for TX to release the next version of their cfw (7.0.0 to 7.0.1 didnt change security measurements so the next cfw SHOULD work for 7.0.0 and 7.0.1 but take that with a grain of salt)

2. downgrade with chdnx(to 6.2.0 exFAT) using atmosphere

It's not sdxc that is the issue. It seems like that Switch does not have the exFAT driver somehow. You can just reformat to fat32 and it should work without the update warning.

that does not help me as i have some games which are bigger then 4gb. and i do not like to have splitfiles.
could this maybe be an idea to forward this to the tx team as a suggestion? so the SX-Menu is able to install those drivers without making an update?

i told you before, ill tell you again
you have 2 options rn
  1. update the normal way (via nintendo server) and get the exFAT update but then u're stuck on 7.0.1 with the only CFW able to run it beeing atmosphere
  2. use atmosphere to downgrade to 6.2.0 exFAT and enjoy sx os
tx is not going to add an option to "install exfat drivers" as
  1. its very easy to do yourself with chdnx
  2. its a driver bundeled with the firmware and not a custom one so there is no getting arounf doing an update be it via chdnx or sysSettings

    my reccomendation is option 2
    just downgrade
create emuNAND (not on sysNAND tho as that seems to be a bit buggy)
boot sysNAND and update back to 7.0.1

now u have a CFW emuNAND and a clean sysNAND
    best of both worlds
(remember that you cant boot stock 7.0.1 with sxloader.bin , use hekate stock profile )
i have had this setup since 6.2.0 and i havent been banned so far while still enjoying the full feature set of sx os
(keep hekate_4.8 on sd and launch it via sx bootmenu if you wanna go stock, ezpz)

exfat is too popular on SD cards for Nintendo not to have on their Switch. However, Microsoft owns the exfat tech. So instead of paying MS a fee for every system made, they only pay for the users that update to add the exfat driver to their system. It's also a way for sneaky N to get you to update your system to the latest driver if you want to use the feature too.
