The Xbox doesnt know whats wrong it freezes after showing the first digit(0) of the error code.Might be a cold solder joint somewhere under the GPU as someone fixed it with the X-Clamp replacement, might also be scaler or Southbridge related since this is where the error code is calculated...

According to stephen.a.j it can also be caused by dust under the Southbridge and the HANA chip so please check for that...

Trust Martin C. over me (obviously)

BUT...I had the same issue on a Falcon jtag I used to have. Had it re-flow'd, didn't help. Had it re-balled, along with a new GPU, didn't help.
Ended up 'bay'n the thing for, about, $45.

If you keep pressing the eject /sync you should get a load of zeros and ones, its binary can be converted to work out error, it is more than four presses, but yeah normally gpu needs reball.

just wanted to add for anyone else with this that the console was acting very strange. it did indeed give the binary code at first which was 0110 (ram issue, lying though) i was able to get the console to give the proper 4 digit error code by flashing it back to its original nand for some reason, code was still 0110, lying again. i always start any reflow process with the gpu unless pressure to ram or sb achieves a boot in which case i attack the chip i added pressure to obviously. pressure test to the ram and south bridge did nothing. as this fired right upafter the gpu reflow and tested fine afterwards under stress i can only assume a solder ball was shorting in line with the ram and possibly the sb at the same time and the reflow cleared the bridge.
