hey guys,
first off im a complete noob so be gentle, i recently bought a very cheap ck3 lite and probe v3, only to find out that i cant use this on my laptop, im told i need a x360usbpro, but im a bit tight on cash at the moment and was wondering is there any way to use the laptop without the usbpro, i read an old thread that said it could be done but it did not make any sense to me, if someone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it, or at the very least tell me if im wasting my time, the laptop im hoping to use is, acer aspire 6920g, and i have not put anything new into it, i do intend to get the pro but i fear it wont be for a while so if possible i would like to gt this working, sorry for the long post,
thanks in advance

Dave.

there are a few usb to sata converters around but their hit and miss when it comes to compatability, you could buy a cheap one but may waste your time and money. Stick with a usbpro.

check out the trade section there might be someone selling one cheap.

They are trying to say that SATA to usb converters rarely work. And are very generic.

You could spend ages trying to find one. Or get one straight away.

And there are so many out there. All with no names. By the time you find one, you probably would have been better of getting a usbpro

we know that wasen't what you wanted to hear, but why not get it right the first time with getting the usbpro insted of fumbling in the dark with usb to sata

phat hitachis can be flashed with usb to esata bridge adaptor, you will need a esata to sata cable as well, laptop will need to be runnnng xp32 os to use the jungleusb driver to use usmodeb function in jungleflasher, no other os will work.
phat mtk based drives , liteon, samsung and benq can be flashed with a via 6421 pcmcia card, you will need to use uniata drivers faked as via drivers, as unlike pci cards pcmcia cards cant run driverless,if the laptop doesnt have pcmcia slot but express54 you would need a express54 to pcmcia adaptor.
slims 0272,0401 and 1071 are a total different ball game, these need a special chipset
no doubt it was a ploy by ms,this is why x360usbpro was invented.
ALL current flashable drives will work with x360usbpro,
this is without a doubt the best option.

Esata ports on laptops wont work as they are mostly usb based and buying anything else in the hope it will work is a waste of money as it wont work.

You'd be better off just buying a usbpro and running it from a good computer you have now, rather than try and find a cheap desktop with a Sata connection.

I learned that lesson in JTaging. Tried to build an LPT cable.. computer wouldnt take dumping the nand... kept crashing, got a NANDX and used my laptop with great luck. :D

i now you are all right in what you are saying, but like i said i dont have the cash right now so i guess i was just looking for a quick fix, it was an original post from darkingthereturn, and he seemed pretty confident it would work as he got it working himself, thanks for all your help, i will have to put it on ice for a while,
have a good one!
