Should I even bother with emuNAND if I'm on a permanent airplane mode, don't install or use anything besides standard xci, nsp and game updates?

Emunand is for people who don't want to get banned and have a clean sysnand back up or for people who like to play around and don't want to risk breaking their sysnand. If you are not worried about being banned and leave airplane mode on all then time, then you probably don't need it.

As a note airplane mode will only help you not get banned if you never going online after running CFW. Once you run CFW, if you do not have a clean nand back up to restore then even if you decide at some point in the future to go online in OFW you can still get banned.

Very informative, thanks.
Yeah, I understand that custom firmwares leaves a mark and I can be banned in the future, but I don't plan on doing any online activity.

No problem. Any other questions feel free to ask. If it's a different issue, just please start a new thread ;)

I kinda do have some smaller questions
Is there a way to unmount the last mounted xci game? I always just switched another game. I'm asking this because some games after the install give you back a corrupted data error if you don't unmount it.
Also wanted to ask if its fine mounting an xci image, do a partial install (that requires you to have a mounted game) then installing dlcs and updates and then installing the game as a whole. Apparently you can and all the dlcs will retain, but you need to unmount an image.

Edit: Simple reboot unmounted that game image and corrupted data error disappeared. But it's strange that there is no such option to unmount in SXOS.

I haven't used XCIs in a while. Installing XCI wasn't always an option so I moved to NSP files. I didn't like having to mount the games all the time. I do think you can unmount them through the Album menu.

You can't, there is no such option. Only mounting another image.

Sorry. It may not be an option as of yet. You can also install XCI files now the same as NSP if that is the file type that you prefer.

Once emunand came out i got the SX Pro.. I still buy a lot of games for the switch (physical of course) i play thoose on my clean sysnand and save the emmunand for the CFW. I know it's not a full proof way to avoid a ban. I see it like a door lock it won't stop someone from breaking in your house but a robber would pick the unlocked door (unclean sysnad) before trying the locked one (clean sysnand, unclean emmunand)

An unclean sysnand is the same thing as running emunand. Unclean will still have traces of CFW on it. Only way to limit the risk of ban would have been to restore a clean nand backup after you created emunand. Using emunand will not stop you from being banned anymore than running CFW on the sysnand if your sysnand is not clean. Plus no one is 100% sure what Nintendo is even checking for when they ban consoles so even a clean nand with emunand could still get banned. Best way is either use airplane mode or get another Switch.
