I see the new 2.0 calls for Xbox 360 - Phat -13599 but Im on 2.0.12625.0 dash (im taking its really just 12625).
Do i need to update teh dash first or can i flash and update later?
Reason I ask is because its already all apart and im VERY lazy.
thanks

lol laziness will get ya no where man! its always recommended to flash back to stock. Do the dash update then flash to the new version FW. Its not as bad as it sounds.

Ive read you flash back to stock only to avoid being banned, which i dont really care since i dont play my xbox online (ps3 for that, Im cheap AND lazy.... double whammy).
Is there any other reason to go stock then flash. Honestly i have updated my dashes flashed previously no problem using the dvd method.
I was just curious if i wasnt on the latest firmware if the flash would mess up? If it wont affect the system aside a ban(bunny quotes) then I will just update it after the flash.
please let me know if im correct
thanks for the reply, was hoping to get this thing flashed while im at work today.

Yes there is. If you attempt to take the dashboard update without the stock firmware in your drive, there's a 99.9% chance that the update will fail and your drive will be locked until you flash it back to stock and take the update.

stock update is official firmware for the dvd drives. The process of returning back to stock firmware for dvd drives before performing a dash update is recommended for all drives including liteons.

If you have flashed your drive before then you should have the original firmware from the read step and hopefully saved. You can use that to flash it back to stock if the version is the same as what you have now. You can also download the firmware pack from #xbins and it will have the latest stock firmware. You can then read your current firmware to get your drive key and then use it for flashing back to stock if needed. As others stated before, flashing back to stock is recommended before doing the dash update.

I recently updated a friends BANNED xbox and what i did was flashed the drive first because i forgot i had to update for the new firmware to work. after updating the flash was still there and everything working fine without having to go back to stock.
