Should I update the original os to 10.0.0.1 now?

Hi folks,

My first post. I own a switch which is running SXOS 2.9.5(beta) and 9.2.0. Not sure what the original os version as it only shows "there is a update".
Since SXOS 2.9.5(beta) now support 10.0.0.1, should I upgrade the original os to the latest?

I want to play the Animal Crossing in the original os so I can connect to my friends. However it can't run until I upgrade the original os.
Am I right about below steps?

1. backup internal nand
2. backup license file
3. boot into the original os and do a online upgrade
4. download the 2.9.5 boot file into the sd and boot into RCM
5. create external nand
6. copy the license file back to the sd card
