Hi there,

Just simply wondering how I can upload music to my xbox harddrive, to be used in games.

At the Dashboard, I went to CD/DVD HDD Backup Tool and saved a bunch of mp3's on the HDD (Drive e:) in the music folder. Then when I play a game (NHL 2K6) and I select 'music saved on harddrive', nothing appears.

I'm saving the songs via DVD in xbox. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Song File Type?
Save Location?
Media Disk Type?

Thanks for you help, I will really appreciate having my own music playing, especially in NHL 2K6. MAN!

My guess is that NHL 2k6 is only programmed to look for media saved via the record music options in the MS dashboard. (i.e., the only way to record music on a stock Xbox.) Fire up the old MS dash, rip a CD via this method and then try selecting music in the game again. I suspect it will find these files...

I've had this same questions before. I know know of my games will read what I've uploaded via XBMC. Where would songs copies via M$ Dash be located on your drive?

Really, I don't know. Fire up the MS Dash, load an audio CD, rip it to the HDD and then go looking. :D Xbox-Scene or an internet search may provide an answer.

Hey guys/gals

Thanks for the responses,

BTW, I'm using xecuter 2, and I'm uploadin the songs via System Settings, CD/DVD Media Backup tool. 'DVD 2 Xbox' tool.

I've saved different file types (mp3's, wma's) in different locations (e://Music, e://Music/<defaultsavename>, e://).

I haven't tried another game, but at least with NHL 2K6, nothing seems to work.

It will be fricken sweet when it does work though!

Sorry I didnt realize until know I typed this wrong. It should say none of my games will read what I've uploaded via XBMC. As far as I know only games copies via M$ dash will read on your games.

Official Xbox games likely WILL NOT know how to handle anything that is outside of what a stock box can do. So unless what you are doing with XBMC, DVD2Xbox, or anything else is equivalent to what you can do with an unmodified Xbox I wouldn't expect it to work.

Again, load up the MS dash, rip a disk and try it in NHL 2k6. If you find what *does* work you may be able to back track and do something outside if the MS dash that is comparable. I would say that this is essentially reverse engineering the process. I think you're wasting your time trying to work from the other direction.

Well I found the M$ dash songs. It should be under E:/TDATA/FFF005/MUSIC. I think thats the correct path. I know its E:/TDATA

i had the same probs but have found a handy pc based utility that will upload the tracks you choose and also update the database microsofts dashboad and media player uses...

firstly xbox only understands wma. files mp3 wont work !

look in the usual ftp chanel for a PC application called XBOX MEDIA SOUNDTRACK EDITOR.

its quite simple to use as long as youre ok with networking the box... hope this helps...

Ding... I bet that is the big key that is being missed. Thanks woody, I was curious myself but didn't have the need to go looking.

Scantron, you've just had the answer handed to you on a silver platter. Now go set up your music as recommended and get your groove on in the rink.
