Hi

Was wondering have got a 120gb hard drive, but its got quite full sooo quickly. I was thinking about updating my hard drive to a possible 400gb (might last me a extra couple of weeks. LOL). Is there any limit to the size of hard drive that you can put in xbox? with X3 chip and evo dash? As i thought each rive could be up to 137gb each but how many drives can i have?

Thanks for your time

ok - information for this is strewn around the boards and a good search would've found the answers...

1. There is no limit - HOWEVER, I wouldn't advise a HDD over 400GB as the current partitioning issues would cause data corruption. Remember that some HDDs generate a LOT of heat, so think about cooling options (increase fan speed, replace thermal paste on CPU heatsink etc..)

2. You can only boot one physical HDD at a time - it's possible to have more than one attached, but you would need a physical switch to choose between them.

3. Your F/G drive partition can now be any size and does depend on the size HDD you have.

My Advice:

HDD < 200GB - Set the X3 BIOS to allocate all spare space to F drive.

HDD > 200GB but < 400GB - Set the X3 BIOS to allocate the space between F and G (F gets first 137GB, G gets the rest).

You will need to transfer the current content of your 120GB to either your PC or another Xbox (via FTP in both cases) if you want to retain it.
