Ok, my old hitachi 59dj finally went to sh*t and no longer wants to behave and play or even recognize the games or even movie DVDs. i managed to order a replacement drive however it was not flashed so basically clueless on hot to get it that way.My bro in law gave me the 2 discs needed for slax however he couldnt remember the procedure . I looked online but from what I can find so far is the disc and wire method. Can anyone do a step by step guide on the 2 disc method? Pissing me off royally not being able to play titanfall.

Just swap the PCB from the old drive into the new one. That is by far the easiest method.

If you insist on flashing the drive, you should be reading the Jungleflasher tutorial.

Ok, however I have heard that just swapping the PCB doesnt always allow the drive to work. Mind you does this mean by swapping the PCB the firmware on the old one will still be valid and still keep the system happy without triggering a XBL ban that I have heard about.

I saw the jungleflaser route before but I do not have the 360x xtractor pro piece that keeps getting noted. That is why i wanted to find out how to use Slax through linux with the 2 disc as i have the discs already.

I found the following from Hubbley2k but it doesnt list all steps to do the flash.

Make sure you follow the tutorial

The first method you can use to get your Hitachi drive into ModeB is
by using a bootable SLAX Live CD. It is a specially edited Linux
LiveCD that will send custom commands to the Hitachi drive through
on bootup.
1. Download the latest SLAX image from Xbox-Scene
2. Open the .rar archive using WinRar and extract the .iso image file.
3. Burn the .iso image to a blank CD-R using IMGBurn, CloneCD,
Nero, or any other recording software capable of burning .iso
image files.
4. Make sure your computerâ‚„s BIOS is set to boot from CD first.
Most are set to this by default.
5. Power off both the Xbox 360 and PC.
6. Make sure both power and video cables are plugged into the Xbox
360. Also provide a true path to ground between the Xbox 360
case and PC case by using croc clips, small wire, or setting them
against each other so they are touching.
7. Unplug the small, black SATA cable from the back of the Hitachi
DVD drive and connect your Hitachi drive to your PC via a SATA
cable.
8. Power on the Xbox 360 and PC at the same time. Boot the PC
from the Slax CD and wait until you reach the login prompt.
9. If you get a line of text that says ₓSpinning Up Disc₦₝ eject the
Hitachi drive and Slax should continue loading.
10. Check for ModeB!
