So I opened up my console today to find that mine does not have the 4gb card. It is the matte model and was purchased May 2013. I thought the newer models had the removable card. Am I missing something?

So is there any way to remove or disable the 4gb memory on this mobo? I'm sorry but I'm pretty new to this xbox.

Because it is corrupted to the point where I can't save anything to it. Including the xbox live update. It will no longer format.

Well it says 2.9 gb free to start with and then I will select format and it sits at halfway for about 5 minutes then shoots all the way to the right and goes back to the storage devices screen and shows the same 2.9 gb. My son turned it on and off about 10 times in a row the first time it corrupted. Then our cat brushed against the xbox and the disk drive opened while I was playing and it corrupted again. I've formatted it three times and it worked fine until it tried to download the latest update. Now I can't save anything to the internal storage. If I could just bypass it that would work also.

If you think your corona memory unit is toast (i've seen it before), i can convert the console to a 16MB console.

It would no longer have the memory unit at all.

Alternatively, if i get my hands on it, maybe an erase from JR would help. These 4gb coronas can be weird.

It's basically to the point where anything I put on the internal memory corrupts. Everything else on the xbox works. It plays games and was using xbox live well enough until it couldn't update because the update won't save to the internal memory and there is no way that I've seen to get it to save the update to my hard drive. What kind of price are we looking at if you don't mind me asking?

And I'll still be able to use it like a regular console? I just need to be able to get back on live. That's the whole issue here. Since I can't do the update I can't get on live.

Yep, you wouldn't have any issues.
Can you post directions / screen shots of what needs to be done on these consoles to do this?
I'm Hoping its just removing the memory chip?

Having the same issue
I have installed a HDD on it, but Most of the time it wont start up right because of the faulty memory

Damn "improvements" LOL

I would have jsinger convert it to a 16mb nand, that way you have the option to install a demon/slim proto later. As it is to remove the 4gb nand requires desoldering the chip from the motherboard, and last time I checked the 4gb nands require a bga table to remove. The demon gives u 2nands, so u can run rgh and live, with a push of a button. I would have jsinger do this install for u also. If u are interested in playing homebrew(emulators/game backups off hdd, custom video players...), and want to keep live this is the way to go. U may ask about the Ltu2 install also.(play burned games)
