Hi everyone. Been a while since I posted but I have found myself completely stumped. I flashed a slim 9504 for my friend about a year ago with lt+3.0 and recently has developed disc read errors. I replaced the laser and all the motors with brand new oem parts and it says play game and most of the time shows the picture of the game but when you launch the game it doesn't make it pass the loading screen before getting disc unreadable. If we try to install the game it fails at about 45 to 50 percent everytime where as it works perfect on mine. I know the back ups are fine because they work with my console and his originals are doing the same thing. I reflashed it before replacing all the motors to see if possibly it had a bad flash if it matters. I had the original OFW for the drive but I had a harddrive fail on me and lost a lot of bins along with a terabyte of my rips. I did extract the key and just flashed normally with write verified but I forgot to read the firmware first before I flashed it so I don't know if this matter or not. I've flashed about 150 phats but only about 10 slims so I was wondering if there is something I'm missing here. It has the TX unlocked board v1.1 so I'm wondering if there is something that can go bad on the board over time or something. I have the original board that is successfully kamikazed that I haven't tried yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is anything I missed kindly let me know as I've been up for 2 days trying to fix this thing. UPDATE: Just learned all originals are working perfectly with no errors nut all back ups give errors.

Sounds like burn quality. What does Kprobe 2 say about them? Tried a pot tweak on the Xbox laser?

I doubt its the burn quality since they work perfect in my drive but I will run kprobe and post results. All games previously worked and now only originals work. Doesn't matter on what back up it is whether its xgd2 or xgd3 still crashes. I was reading last night on another thread about the laser height adjustment fixing a drive with simular issues but it wouldn't read games at all and mine reads originals.

Questionable at best. Yes, they play with better lasers, but weak ones will always have issues with those results. PI errors need to be below 100 and the PI failures average is almost triple the recommended. Post a burn log to see your settings.

The first results I posted were not great but the second one seemed right where it needed to me, but correct me if I'm wrong. I going to check the pot on it when I get another chance to look at it. It doesn't work with older xgd2 games either so I'm not really sure if that makes a difference cause I don't remember having problems with burns on the older games. This is a brand new laser and was wondering if it is normal to have to pot tweak them when there brand new. I have changed plenty of lasers on all phat drives and never had to do anything besides remove the anti static blob. There are 2 different slim liteon lasers and it is entirely possible I could have ordered the wrong one but he doesn't have the original to compare. It currently has the g2r2 in it. If it was originally a gr2 would that cause the issues I'm having? Sorry for so many questions.

Lasers from most ebay sellers and chinese companies will do the very same as your "brand new one". I bought 5 from ebay, and 2 did not read a bit, 2 worked with Verbatim media after pot tweaking, and one worked just fine without any tweaking. It cannot be said that a burnt disk is good just because it works in one drive. I have burnt disks that play well in Phat Xbox 360 drives but cannot be read in slims.

By twe way, the Kprobe scans you have posted look quite bad to me, and those are the reason why you get unreadable disks at about 45 to 50 percent. These burns are just too weak for those "oem" (let's say refurbished) lasers...

I adjusted the rail heights by turning the three adjustment screws all the way in and adjust a quarter turn out at a time to find the sweet spot. After about 10 min it was reading all the games and installing them all to 100 percent. I don't know if it will last but for now it is solved. Thanks for the responses and I will work on getting my burns better.
