slim dvd drive replacemnts

Guy's is it possible to use a 9504 as a replacement for a
0401 dvd drive and flash full 0401 FW to it?
I don't mean spoofed, i mean full 0401FW.
i know it's possible for liteon drives from phat x360
Not sure about slims
