RGH Slim only boots without DVD

Hello.

I just installed a TX QSB for RGH in my Slim. I dumped the Nand good.

Than I decided to put it back together and fire it up (with only the QSB installed).

Now the problem is, that the Box won't boot anymore. Just solid green light on ROL. I can see the fan slow down every fe seconds.

As I take out the DVD an fire it up, the Box boots straight to the dashboard.

Is this normal? I assume no. Any hint on what I might have messed up? I checked the area around STBY_CLK carefully and could not find any bridges or damages ...

I would appreciate any hint / idea ... Sadly I cannot take a picture because my camera sucks!!!

I had the exact same issue, fixed by NOT using the qsb's and doing a wire install. The issues with no dvd and no sata, are either the stby point or a few people have mentioned the shortening of the blue wire, which didnt work for me personally,.

Thanks for the reply ... So you could start the system without DVD (normal Dash)?

Actualy the Coolrunner is not in the system atm. It is only the QSB. The Nand is even still the original one. I would assume that it does not do anything to the system as it is installed?! I guess I messed something, but what?!

If no other ideas come in ... I will try removing the QSB and prey!

So you assume that the prob might arise from only QSB being installed, and it might be fine when everthing is in place?!

I had this, Coil your blue wire at the back of the board and re-adjust until it boots with everything connected.

R3B14 should have a resistor, looks like you have accidentally taken it off. it happened to one of mine accidentally lifted one side of it and wouldnt boot with dvd drive or hdd. replace that resistor

how can he adjust wires to make his xbox boot with a dvd drive connected? hes taken the resistor off. no QSB would make your sata connections drop. that resistor is for sata timings, you will find if you replace that resistor then your sata will then work again. then you may carry on as normal..

you can however c arry on as you would but you will have no dvd drive or hdd drive, will have to all be USB

Obviously I didn't see the resistor missing did I  I thought he was referring to it not glitching with dvdrom attached. I've had to readjust the blue wire when attaching dvdrom when it was glitching fine without one. Nice spot regardless.

What I find interesting here is once again, someone posts for help and neglects to mention he had trouble soldering point B. Had it not been for the pic and some eagle-eyed viewers he would have been no further forward.

I would suggest you are always honest when asking for help as it's impossible to ascertain what you did wrong when you're economical with the truth. No matter how insignificant you may think something is, mention it.

First of all thanks for the help! Sadly I already gave the box away since I was f**ked up ... Damn I did not see myself. I checked for every sh*t but did not see this. (Beside I did not have any trouble soldering to this point. I can not even now think about how the resistor "went off". To my excuse I soldered while being really pis*ed / angry - I'll never do this again!)

Of course I informed the "new owner" of the Slim (very good deal for him I guess).

So at this point: THANK YOU @ALL from him as well!!!!

Special Thanks go out to dannyhoward21 of course!!!!

Update: The "new owner" replaced the resistor (and after E70 due to "switched SATA) the Box is now up an running. Lucky him! Once again ... Thanks @all!
