I just did a demon install for a customer of mine and at one point I was having weird issues with the console "dinging" at me and turning on and off randomly.

The problem seemed to go away after a couple re-writes of the retail and demon nands so I assumed everything was fine again. The next day after he had it back he said it was powering on/off randomly and sometimes opening and closing the dvd tray rapidly as well. So far 24hrs later it hasnt been doing it again, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this odd issue and found a fix for it or if I'm the only one this has happened to.

Also having issues with the error light coming on when booting the retail nand (but still boots fine) sometimes. But I read that a few people were having issues with that with no real definitive fix for it yet besides switching the CR to PHAT mode.

But anyways if anyone has any insight into those weird power issues that are happening randomly I would greatly appreciate it.:D

sounds more like a front panel/ribbon/rol issue, to discount it remove the ribbon from the rol and try it without it attached, turn on with controller, if it stops then its a ribbon/front panel issue, if it still does it try without the rol and boot with a wired controller.

Haha I knew that orange wire thing was going to come up, but I've checked that point before after seeing that in the picture too and I can assure you there aren't bridging. Also I'm pretty sure its not a front panel ribbon cable issue either because the first time I experienced the issue for myself was with the ribbon cable out.

I also did a ROL mod for this customer, replacing the lights for blue and I'm positive I never hit any resistors or caps around the lights or anything. This issue only seemed to start happening after installing the demon.

Wonder if maybe it has something to do with the optional sync cable for switching the nands? Maybe its causing some weird short and causing power/eject commands to be randomly sent to the RF board?

Also currently I do not have the Xbox to do any testing with but after getting enough suggestions, and if the customer is still having issues I will probably go get it and test some things out on it to see if anything permenantly gets rid of the problem.

check the wire connections into the back of the dvd drive, i have found that if it is not correctly plugged in the drive does very strange things

hope this helps
