RGH Slim RGH Install Questions

I have installed the QSB and I have been usingFiB3R's Glitch guide. I have a concern about my NAND reads. I did NAND reads while my NAND-X had the V2 code. I just recently updated my NAND-X by modding my CK3 Pro (Rev D) to flash V3. I did a couple more NAND reads, but with the V3 code.

My question is this, does the NAND change every time the xbox is played with? I haven't installed any game title updates nor i have updated to the latest dash. I'm currently on 13599 and I'm unsure whether I should update to the newest before writing the ECC.

I compared the first NAND dumps, i made yesterday, with the new ones that I just created a few minutes ago, but differences are found between them. They do not match between sets but they do match when compared against each other within the same set. No bad blocks where found and no read errors occurred.

I only installed CoolRunner, without the RED wire connected because I was waiting for my NAND-X Update cable to arrive. I didn't want to modify my CK3 but i couldn't wait.

From the guide the only things that I have done has been, 1) Install QSB, 2) Read the NAND while V2 was flashed, 3) Create ECC without writing it to the NAND 3) Solder all wires to mobo and CoolRunner with the exception of the RED wire

I few hours ago i flashed NAND-X to V3 and programed CoolRunner. The only thing I haven't done was write the ECC file to the NAND because my initial NAND read differentiates from my new NAND reads.

I want to finish my RGH install, they only thing that prevented me from doing so was because my NAND-X didn't have V3. If the NAND does indeed change, I will do more fresh NAND reads, create the ECC and write that to the NAND, finish soldering the RED wire to CoolRunner and boot the box all in one occurrence.

A similar thing happened to me, I just used the most recent NAND dumps and everything went just fine. I believe people here recommend updating to the newest dash beforehand for using the newest multibuilder etc. But I don't believe it is required (I did mine on 13604 I believe was the build (whichever was before the most recent) and can do the update afterwards with a few steps.

Once the CPU key is created, i can make the retail MS image and the hacked image. If anything would go wrong does the MS retail image contain the ECC or is it excluded?

The nand get written to every time you boot. That's probably why you had differences BUT you should do it again. I believe it is recommend around here to do it 3 times and compare those against each other. If you get any differences then DO NOT CONTINUE!

Keep a copy of your original nand and don't touch it at all. It you find yourself in need of another copy then copy it do not use it what so ever for anything.

You were right Krafter. The NAND reads do not differentiate. I can dump as many as want and they all match. The only time when they do differentiate is when i create fresh dumps and compare those to my previous dumps. Just like you stated, the NAND does indeed change every time the xbox is booted. I was able to prove that when i read, booted and shut down and read again. The dumps differentiated between reboots and but they did not when NAND dumps were created consecutively.

I a few questions, so the final step is to write the NAND image from Xell. Should I be at 13604 before attempting this guide? http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76193 How is Dashlaunch installed, is it installed when the NAND is written or must i place that on the HDD? If i do have to install it, i can figure it out and do it post RGH. It says that after the hacked NAND image is written, it will boot with the dash modified, but it doesn't state anything about Dashlaunch. Will the xbox boot directly to NXE but modified without dashlaunch installed?

These are my uncertainties.

I upgraded to the lastest dash and used the newest multibuilder. Each multibuilder release is different based on the dash one is going to glitch from.

I completed my RGH install and programing. My xbox typically glitches between 5-10 seconds. Now i have to figure out how to install FSD.

My xbox boots between 5-10 seconds. I used the alternate B point as I expressed great concern about this point avoiding B15 on the SLIM completely. Less damaged boards would surface if those who are not confident enough to solder to such a small pad near an importan resistor. I avoided it because I didn't want to deal with it, so I opted for the alternate B point. I'm glad that I did, but it isn't that hard to mess that point up neither.

Basically the issues most are having when it comes to the RGH install is soldering and not following directions. If one is going to follow an instalation guide, we must not deviate. Take the time to search. I asked some obvious questions that had not been answered about elsewhere but we are adults, at least the majority, we can find the answer to our questions by other means sometimes. Most blame the NAND-X flasher is faulty. No its not, its their novice experience of soldering. The damage that I have seen is unbelieviable. Using a 30-watt iron is the best one can use by being quick and holding ones breath to solder and insert from point to point. At the begining of this journey, I was a complete novice, now I feel I can tackle any soldering job. Soldering with a torch in comparison to an iron was a huge experience for me. Anyone can solder by following the proper technique and taking the time to practice. Yes, practice. Its not a test we can fail, we can pass if one takes it slow. Many may say that I might of been lucky to do it correctly of my first attempt. I was lucky to find the information and lucky enough to be given the information accurately by other TX forum members. TX never let us down, nor their top of the line products. I'm very grateful. Thank you. I love it here at TX!

Do RGH consoles ignore AP checks from disc and will it also ignore topology data? I don't plan to back them up incorrectly, just wondering.

My slim has the unlocked PCB installed since it came it out back in June, and the RGH made my board obsolete so to speak. I can't re-flash my drive until the new firmware is released, but I'm impressed that my xbox has been able to boot xbe files once I installed the modified xbox 1 emulator data. I've always been pure firmware. JTAG not so much because in terms of homebrew, my xbox 1 seems to be that much more powerful; even though the 360 leaves it in the dust, the 360 hasn't been able to match what the homebrew devs were able to accomplish. I was a bit disappointed with the 360 emulator reliability in comparison to the xbox 1. RGH at least allows us to play our 360 and most xbox 1 games without the disc inside the drive.

Rgh = no protections at all after you flash the custom kernel. You don't even need a DVD drive installed.

The amount of people who try to rgh/jtag but have absolutely idea what they can do with it is shocking

I have 1 JTAG left, my other one got RROD, but never really bothered exploring X360 homebrew since my xbox 1 has done it perfectly throughout the years. The RGH is absolutely amazing. I have been doing things with it that I didn't even attempt on a JTAG because the interest wasn't there. I missed out so much.

Thanks to all who have helped me, for now its time to explore!

I have one question. It may be a dumb one. It hasn't be addressed but, can the CR be left on standby? For example, leaving the PSU plugged in? CR receives a constant current, so I have been unplugging my PSU right after I power down especially if I'm away for many hours.

It makes sense to unplug, i do since a constant current exists the LED is always on. It doesn't bother me unplugging it because FSD fixes the clock automatically.

5 - 10 seconds. Thanks for confirming that when you do it right this is what to expect. Maybe those who can't do it and blame the tools will follow your lead :)
hi uber

I always find your post very helpful and as one of the more helpful people on the forum can you clear somthing up for me.

i have done more than 30 RGH slim consoles, only 3 i modded booted between 5 - 15 seconds.

i am no PRO but am pretty good at soldering. you said "5 - 10 seconds. Thanks for confirming that when you do it right this is what to expect".

i believe i have wired and soldered every xbox correctly, would you mind posting a pic of one of your slim coolrunner installs so i can get a idea of what you deem to be done correctly

will really help me and im sure alot of beginners out

thanks for the help

I did a BB 512 Jasper the other day and it boots within 5 seconds every time without a cap, My other two Phat Jasper 16 (Wouldn't even glitch without a cap) and slim 4gb are all over the place with glitch\boot times, Take from that what you will.

Ive done a lot of console. Most of the slims are not constant, but usually wire placement is paramount. I can get a 5-10second boot constantly if the xbox is left unplugged for 1min before attempting to glitch....
