Ok.. I am reaching out to anyone that might can help with this.. this is my 10th or so rgh and this one has me stumped. Read nand and no errors.. when I build ecc and write and try to boot .. coolrunner blinks and acts like it comes on but have no video so not sure if it does or not.. reflash back to stock nand and all works..

Ive rebuilt the ecc using jrunner, jtag toolz, and pig..

Any help would be appreciated.. also I am in the process of getting pics.. waiting on my camera now.

Did you by chance have any bad blocks in the first 50 read from your nand?

Also, when you say the CR blinks, I assume you are saying it flashes green?

Correct.. cr blinks green. also if it helps.. it acts like the coolrunner does glitch because the lights on the joystick comeon and show upper left like normal..

No I didnt have any bad blocks in dumps

Hi.
If all your soldering is good then it is most likely the position of the blue wire
I always wrap it in a coil and put plenty of electrical tape round it to insulate it and place the coil next to the x-clamp

One other thing.. I also flashed another cr just to see if that might be the problem..

switching to phat makes no diff..

Hi.
I know this is most likely not the reason but in asking as you said the console seems to be glitching.
are you using a high def component cable and if you are have you got the switch on it set to the correct position for your tv

Just looked at your pics.
Try wrapping the blue wire in a tighter coil & placing it closer to the x-clamp.
Just a tip, You should not use hot glue until you have the console booting.
To remove the glue you should warm it up with a hair dryer but take care not to damage the board

He shouldn't use hot glue, period.

Electrical tape is more than suffice for securing the wires in place.
I see a lot of consoles come my way with hot glue on wires and when i ask why they used hot glue 99.9% of time "thats what they used on Youtube"

Not only is it a pain to remove, but it increases the risk of pulling components from the board when it is removed.

Anyway, back to the OP - shortening the CPU_RST wire or using the POST_QSB are other solutions you may wish to try, using shielded cable on CPU_RST may also help you.

I do have to agree, i do not use hot glue either and i always use the post qsb on slims as it cuts out all the messing around with the blue wire and makes a neater install

OK.. I am in no way arguing the point of using hot glue.. but sometimes in a pinch we do use what we have on hand..

Now back to the orig problem.. I am wondering if it might be something in the ecc file? The boot time is not a problem although again who am I to argue, as it "seems" to glitch in under 20 seconds every time.. there just isnt any video output on either the hdmi nor the standard video output.
I have rewritten the stock nand back to this box and all works as NORMAL.. redumped the nand again.. compaired to all the other dumps.. checked the nand with nandhealer and there are no bad blocks. I have used several programs to write the ecc back to the box and still have no video when attempting the cr.

If you think the qsb will fix this or if it is a timing issue then please let me know... but I just cant see how timing could affect video? maybe I just dont understand the inner workings of the cr..

Again thanks for all the help and input

Just curious, have you tried J-Runner? If not, do that, and then post your output when you build your ecc file.

I have used jrunner and both coolshrimps jtag tools.. as well as the old manual methods.. what are you wanting as output>? the actual ecc file?

Just curious what the actual output log looks like when you create the ecc image from your original nand dump.

Also, can you post better close up shots for the top of the board and of the CPU_RST on the back?

Have you tried any of the alt solder points?

I can vouch for the post qsb makes messing with the timing so much easier, but your issue doesn't sound like a timing issue.
