not sure - I haven't tbh mate, some people have mentioned interference from where the cables are routed sometimes, but it's odd u had 5 good ones and then this poor one - I think Uber had one that was just a proper b*tch to rgh tho?

My Slim always takes a bit to boot. Most of times 30 sec. It's fine by me.

Altough i just did a Jasper today and it always boot on the 1st cycle (5 sec) it looks like a falcon.

QSBs won't make any difference - trust me.

Sean - I was playing around with a picky slim today and tried something new. I put a 34pF cap (it's an adjustable cap) between STBY_CLK and GND (might have been POST_OUT1, can't remember lol) and for the first 4 boots it went in 5 secs. It then went back to being picky, so there's def more we can try IMHO.

I don't think Uber agrees with that opinion. I don't remember in which post but I assure you he mentioned that with the QSB installed we will certainly see better boot times:)

Thing is, boot times on slim consoles really vary, so because a QSB installed Slim boots quicker doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't boot as quick with wires.

Give me a good technical explanation as to why the QSB will give you a better boot time and I'll be inclined to listen.

Oh and remember that the one console I did put the QSB in has very erratic boot timings!

I am seeing very erratic boot times on my slim with tx coolrunner. I had the CPU_RST wire coiled under the board as per ubergeek tutorial, and it wouldn't glitch at all. I tried moving the cable around and it started working. Also tried fat mode, which did boot quickly a couple of times. Currently takes 5 seconds to a minute on slim mode, will try a few changes.

Take a pic of your coolrunner board please?

All back together now:) and working well.

The switch dont feel great, so I assume that its faulty and for waht ever reason stayed in the slim postion.

Other than that, I just moved the CPU_RST cable, but not by much at all!

i just installed the coolrunner into a jasper, booted up fine every time until i put it back into the metal casing, and been having flakey boot ups now and again, sometimes it don't boot up at all until i mess around with the wires under the mobo. just tried it now and its booted up twice within 3 seconds of powering it up. not very stable

my slim boot times are very erratic, usually very long (over 1 minute) as opposed to short. I have tried to change blue wire length or no change. Also, the chip now doesnt glitch when set to SLIM, only PHAT (installed on slim unit)

it sure doesn't. i kind of like using my 360 with the case on. I'm just wondering why are the wires so sensitive when moved even though the solder points are strong.

How much was cut from the end of the wires that you soldered? If you cut too far you are obviously causing a short somewhere. Check exposed wiring to make sure it's not bent over and touching something, or even your casing.

i cut the tips of some wires so there was less chance of it shorting, its a wired install btw and whats funny is it boots up when its down flat but it don't when standing up..
