Team SmartXX is releasing a new HDD with firmware hacked so the serial/model#s can be changed. But it only works w/ SmartXX chips. ANd worst of all, ALL SMARTXX PPL HAVE TO BUY NEW HDDs (which really sux lol)

I just hope Team X is not doin this sh*t. As posted on the main page, I think / hope they will hack the HDD Firmware and we will get the new bios / util release for free (haha SmartXX cusomers) (i take credit for suggesting the firmware hack hehe) (Hey I just suggested it I didnt do any of hte programming). Just hope TeamX pulls throuh for us and doesnt make us waste money on a HDD to play on Live.

it wont happen.... i was the one that first suggested it, and they took my advice.. i started on the program from C to reprogram the eprom it... then came the 2nd challenge... to edit the file itself... and with my different types of HD's out there its a pain in the ass to make all the firmwares for each and everyone one of them.

This may help a bit but.. it all stems from avoiding punkbuster hardware bans.. for those who are not familiar with punkbuster it is an anticheat for several games, part of their program detects if alterations to the way punkbuster functions results in a hardware ban via a few different things.. one of which is your hdd serial. There are a few programs out there that can change your hdd serial to give the impression you are on a different computer hence removing or masking that fact you have been hardware banned by punkbuster. I will look around on my forums and speak to a few people on my forums and see what info I can find. Like I said I am not sure how useful this is for xbox related bans and you would have to hook your hdd up to your pc to use the software I imagine. I will keep everyone informed the more I find out :)

and honestly I dont see y it wouldnt work with Xbox. The hdd isnt a different architecture. Its the same firmware that other HDDs use so ima try spoofing the serial / model on my pc and droppin it in the xbox to see if it works...

and of course, a few mods to teh GUI and other stuff for the xbox, an XDK compile, and its yet another homebrew release..... :):)

Open Tray Error on Lite-On PLDS DG-16D2S

I'm having Open Tray error issue after flashing. It won't read any games, backups, DVDs. It is my first time flashing the DVD Drive Lite-On 74850C

First, what I did was to extract my key, inquiry, serial. bins using JUNGLEFLASHER (0.1.75beta). I've bought my xbox already flashed and hacked but I don't know what version was on the drive, but since newer games hit the market, I couldn't play games like (MW2, Tekken6, Assasin's Creed etc) so I decided to flash it by myself.
The very first attempt was unsuccessfull and got my drive locked due to me being noob and couldn't put it in vendor mode 0x72. Seems like I left my drive ON when I pushed MTK Flash32> Lite-On Erase button. So after than numerous attemp on DOS using DOSFLASH I could erase something. (I gave commands "E" and "Liteon E" (Don't know what's the difference between them, so I took the risks). Oh yeah at that time my PC couldn't identify my drive. So I tried to spoof my dummy.bin and ix-ltv1.1-748.bin(changed to hacked.bin) using command : firmtool dummy.bin hacked.bin but I've got an error o hacked.bin I can't remember what was the error was saying, it has something to do with hacked being different and I couldn't use it. Don't know why it couldn't spoof it. But then I tried different hacked2.bin (older version). and It did work saying that my drive is ready to be flashed then I proceeded with "Write" but at that point I don't remember if I chose hacked or hacked2.bin. Seems like I chose hacked.bin and seeing those flashing procedure got me excited and I thought it was working. My PC identified my drive as soon after flashing and procedeed to check it on my xbox and getting the PLAY DVD even on my older games I used to play.
Is it possible that my actual DVD Drive's key has been changed from hacked.bin? something like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ? I know the key was wrong then again I proceeded it flashing again. This time on JUNGLEFLASHER.

This time I'm sure that I got it flashed correctly with jungleflasher.
1. MTK Flash32 > Lite-On Erase. At that point my drive was showing everything on Drive Properties window
2. spoofed from Firmware Tool 32. DVD key from dummy.bin and Open Target Firmware: ix-ltv1.1-748.bin and got the DVD keys identical and saved as hacked.bin
3. MTK Flash 32 > Write. Banks 1-4 and checking process was okay. > Outro from Vendor Mode.
4. Check with my xbox putting the games and I get OPEN TRAY. I've tried dosen times and I can't get it working. I've read alot of similar threads and all saying IT HAS TO BE LASER PROBLEM. But I was wondering if I made my DVD key spoofed with hacked.bin's. Is there a such possibility?

Also I'm buying Samsung-Toshiba TS-H943 drive. Does it have versions like ms25-ms28? Which should I buy in order to get my xbox working? Should I be concerned about additional hardware installation on the drive I'm buying? or I just buy the drive and put it on my xbox?
