SMB / NFS support in BIOS

This would allow any dashboard, game, xbmc, anything
to be run off a file server.

This would allow an original condition hard drive in the XBOX.
(Think xbox live banning.)

That sounds -really- good !

But actually... The games run of the dashboard right ? So should this question not go to the dashboard developpers ?

There are probably hundreds of discussions on this...you can't play games over a network. Get over it.

Wrong !

The dashboard does not matter, I think the problem is that the games use the network port, so you cant have the bios using it to load game data and have the game using it also,

Maybe a usb (or any kind of secondary) network port would be required ?

That last one is nonsense... You could use the network port for 100 applications including nfs shares and games.. That is not the issue.

I understand that this has been discussed before, anyone have any idea on -why- this would be impossible ? A thread would be fine.. Because I do not completely "get it"....

I -think- that the issue is that the XBOX can only do one thing at the same time and you cannot have a protocol layer in memory taking care of the NFS availability at the moment the game is running... If that is the issue then you would need to somehow think of a way of part of the bios remaining active while an application (game/dashboard , whatever) is running..

Now wouldn't THAT be a very nice feature noone has tried before...

You would to be able to switch it off because it might not be compatible in all cases ofcourse..

XBOX 360 Help

Hi everyone, first time on a discussion board so bear with me and I apologise now if I have posted wrong etc.... just hoping someone can point me in the right direction.......... I have trawled the many forums and no joy.....

I have just bought a modded xbox 360 so I can play back ups.

I have just made a backup of three of my games using a Samsung SH-D162D and an LG Super Multi.

This was done using a tutorial from the club MyCE site which involved XBOX back up creator, ABGX360 and IMG Burn.

The first game I backed up was "Lost" and the copy works fine.

The second was "Facebreaker" and the third was "King Kong" each of these load and at different stages the sound goes and the game freezes..... they allow you to go back to Start menu etc but you can not progress in the game.

So I really am just trying to find out what checks I need to perform etc..... but like I say, the first game is fine.......

Also, I need to know how to see what firmware my 360 is on and also how to flash upgrade it if necessary, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be much obliged.

Thanks and like I said, I am new so bear with me.....

Re: XBOX 360 Help

Jungleflasher will tell you what the current firmware is on your consoles dvd drive. As for your games, if there was a problem with the iso you created from your original, then abgx would have said so. So I don't believe its your games. If you have a copy of the log from abgx when you patched you games that would be helpful. For future reference, i'd buy a replacement xbox drive (benq or liteon) and flash the 0800 firmware to it, have it connected to your pc and run it with xbox backup creator. It's supposed to be the best way.
I suppose you could always try cleaning the lense as well as updating the firmware (if possible).
