I have an X3 with Xapt3r. The instalation went all great, but when I pluged my box for the first time to see if everything was ok, it didn't boot to the X3 flash bios screen (it booted to the normal Xbox screen) when suddenly a little cloud of smoke came out of my X3! I got really worried so I turned off my box. After I played with the chip a bit to make sure it was placed right, I turned it on again and everything was OK, it booted to the flash screen. It works fine now but should I be worried about the smoke :?:

Far from here!
lol, maybee that is a new "feature" of the X3? hehe Man I am not sure but if it booting to the flashbios screen then try and flash it with your bios and see what happens.

BTW is it a v1.6? did you solder the alt 5v correctly if it is? Not sire why it would smoke like that.

LOL, can you disable the chip now? If you have a 1.6 and didn't remove the 5v pin from the pin header and also did the alt 5v, then you just short circuited and burned up the trace for 5v. The reason you need the alt 5v is because 5v in the LPC cannot be disabled as of 1.6, so you wont be able to turn off the mod chip.

Edit: If you DID do that, then have no fear, there is a guide here in the forums on how to fix that. Just check that guide and do a quick repair and you are back in buisness.

As I said I did a solderless instalation (v 1.4 xbox), I already flashed the chip, everything seems to work fine for now. What could it be, any ideas?Should I be worried in the future? Smoke coming out of the chip and smell of burned plastic isn't exactly reasuring.

Ahh, I didn't see the part about the Xapt3r, though I guess you still COULD have used one on a 1.6 lol. Well, I have no idea what would do that, that's weird. No evidence of anything burned at all? I guess if it still works... :?

If it has smoked and smokes no more then whatever was burning has burnt..... If it works now then don't sweat it.

The same thing happened to me a while back everything worked fine but the blue lights. A pin got loose and something crazy happened and the little trace for the led burned out, so I resolder the pin and repair the traces for the leds and now everythings is working fine.

i seriously think that team xecuter should install a little smoke maker that smokes the first time the xbox turns on and thats it.

Ubisoft survey gauges interest in Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon films

A survey floating around seems to suggest Ubisoft is entertaining the idea of bringing some of its franchises over to the big screen -- specifically, Assassin's Creed and Ghost Recon. The above image was submitted to Evil Avatar, which says the survey is geared the toward finding out what would most make those taking it want to see movies based on the franchises -- Ezio, Subject 16 and the like.

While we feel the world would probably be just fine without another war flick, we'd be all for an Assassin's Creed movie, granted that the project wasn't entirely about making money but also making a good movie. We're probably being a bit naive, though.
