I know my burns are all within the kprobe and nero disc quality standards, but im wondering if i can somehow soften the spike in the beginning of my burns....

They all look the same, despite all the burns....My PI still spikes out at the same point on every burn....always in range but it always spikes at that part of the burn....

Ive reflashed the drive liteon124b several times sometimes resulting in a better pi max but worse other numbers.....Ive recently bought a liteon324b and i get similar numbers on the spike but my pi avg and pif avgs are a bit lower.....

My settings are OPC on....FH on, Oht on, os off, sb on, and i really havent been clearing the opc history because my burns are good im just looking for advice if anyone has solved a similar problem....Ive tried a number of combinations resulting with similar spikes in the beginning but worse avgs all around...

Thanks

Try disabling Burn Proof in imgburn settings....While its burning do not use pc untill finished...Also use verbatim mkm-03 discs.....

Not sure if it's any help but I found a lot differences in the full face printable Verb's (from Singapore) that I mostly find in 25 spindle's in Europe and the Verb's from the U.S. that have a larger non printable circle in the middle and come in spindle's of 20 or 50 as far as I've seen (both rated at 8x and Singapore made btw).

The spike and the burn quality on average was WAY better for the U.S. bought discs for me, and continues to be.

Now I don't know where you get your discs but maybe you can look into this :).

More likely the spindle of discs. I had a 25 spindle of 2.4x Verbs and I got spikes like that on a lot of discs. When I bought a 50 spindle of 2.4x Verbs the results were better with PI max of 20 or less. I wouldn't worry about it.

I enable all eeprom settings and burn at 4x with "Perform OPC before each write" checked in IMGBurn. My SATA is on the Intel ICH10R chipset.
