Softmod Works Surprisingly Well

This past weekend, I did a soft mod on a spare Xbox using the SC game exploit with UXE. I was quite surprised at how easy it was. After I found the files I needed, the whole process only took about 5 minutes. Tweaking Evox and adding more software and skins only took another 5-10 minutes. Since then, it's been working perfectly with backups. I've even gotten 3 games onto the HD. For those who are strapped for cash, I'd seriously consider this as an option. I'm quite amazed at how well the UXE soft mod works.

It wasn't hard at all. Like the previous post mentions, there are a lot of tutorials on xbox-scene.com about soft mods. The basic steps I did were:

1) Download the Splinter Cell hacked save game zip file with Raincoat or PBL
2) Transfer the files onto my Action Replay
3) Get an original SC from my brother
4) Load SC on the non-modded Xbox and load up the "Linux" save file, which starts up an Evox dashboard
5) FTP into my Xbox and backup the entire C drive
6) Get the full UXE zip file and unzip it to a temporary directory
7) Run the 2 batch files provided with the UXE zip file
8) FTP all files under the temporary directory structure to the Xbox
9) Reboot the Xbox

That's all it took. After that, I transfered more skins and a bunch of applications to my Xbox. I was expecting it to be much harder than it was. Again, do some research on xbox-scene before attempting it. You have to be careful when putting the new files onto the Xbox (step #8). The UXE package I used was great. I didn't have to do anything except run the 2 batch files.
