2 questions:
(X3 ce)

1. When I solder the LAN/HDD/D0 wires to the motherboard, what part do I heat up with the soldering iron and what is the easiest way of going about doing it?

2. Where can I find instructions on the rebuild kit (xbox v. 1.6)? The link on this site to the instructions for soldering it to the X3 is not working.

i find to solder onto preexisting pins (not the Lad or D0), is to heat them for a few seconds, then feed a LITTLE solder onto the actual pin, then heat some solder, and coat the end of the wire your about to solder, so it just barely coats it (not big wads), then head the pin again and slip your freshly coated wire onto the solder, remove soldering iron, let it cool naturally (dont blow it), and once its cooled and hardered, let go and you should be fine

oh, and dont tug it to make sure it's attached.

first things first if you are having trouble soldering then pratice on some old broken stuff make sure that you have a 15 watt or at the most 30 watt (better to use 15 watt) ok now some people say use flux and some say use rosin core solder I use both also I use Nokorode Regular Paste Flux it is for pipes and such but I have been soldering for a long time and it is the best better that acid flux and it dont smell bad

anyways what I do is put a small ammount of Flux on the wire then melt solder on the iron then touch it to the wire tip and it will tin the wire the flux boils and solder flows nicely

then put a small amount of Flux on the XBOX board only a verry small amount and then get the wire in place and put some solder on the iron then touch it and it will bubble and then the solder will run to the bord and then take the iron away and it should be done

hope it helps

the solder says not for use on electronics but I have been using it for like 20 years and no problems
