Just tried soldering the QSB to the motherboard for the first time and all that happens when I go to solder the pads is that the solder stays on the solding iron like a magnet and wont leave the iron so I cant create a joint ,how do I stop this from happening.

I am trying not to apply solder to the iron directly but when I heat the pad up then put the solder near the pad it touchs the iron.

The QSB i was using has started to go brown now :( as I am messing up to much.

I am using flux, I am tining the iron I am using a 15wat iron I dont get why It sticking to the iron like a magnet.

Is there a way to jtag xbox 360 with out soldering?

No - you need to be able to solder before embarking on any soldering projects on the 360. It's almost impossible to do anything without knowing how to solder. You should be practicing on old PCBs rather than diving into your precious JTAGable console!

Tips:

Solder will only flow to a point when the temperature is high enough to melt the solder. Put the QSB to one side and try to apply extra solder to the points first. Clean the iron tip and place on the point. Give it 5 seconds (15W tip) and then try to feed solder into the point. If it doesn't melt, either the point is dirty or is not hot enough. You may need to leave it another 5 seconds on the point then try again.

Once you know how long you need to hold the iron on the tip, soldering should be much easier. The QSB will need no time at all as they're small points BUT both QSB and motherboard point need to be BOTH high enough in temperature or the solder will only flow to one and not the other.
