Solder inmy pinheader holes in v1.0 xbox

There is solder already in my pinheader holes in my version1.0 xbox and i don't know how to install the pinheader b/c the solder makes it impossible to fit and my friend told me that desoldering takes to long and is dangerous . is there another way to install the pinheader without desoldering.

I highly recommend desoldering the pin holes...it isn't that hard if you read some of the tutorials here.

Just use the wire install adapter. As long as you can find a place to mount your X3 you'll be set. Just don't let it float around freely, secure the chip somehow.

The adapter comes with the chip. It's item #10 on the X3 Install Tutorial. I have a 1.0 box as well, and trust me, you'd rather use this method than desoldering the holes.

It's not that difficult. If you're confident that you can make the D0 solder with no problems, then this should be a piece of cake. This tutorial should be all you need. There's also a lot of other great info on this site. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I have to agree with morty25..Get some solder braid and de-solder the holes and do a pin head fit.. In case you don't know, Solder braid is perfectly designed for this type of job, it literally draws the melted solder into itself. Also, you will be left with lovely clean and tinned holes.. In my opinion, easier and more stable in the long run.. Good luck matey..

You can find the Xapter installation guide on the home page here up in the upper right corner where all the other guides are. And yes the Xapter would be an easier alternative to modding a V1.0

does the x3 chip come with desolder braid when u buy it b/c i think i have it it was taped to the back of the package

The wire install is not difficult at all. However, yes, it probably would be easier for you to get the xapt3r. It would also be more expensive, and from my experience with chip dealers, would take some time to get. Just have some faith in yourself and be glad you don't have to mod a ps2. As for installing the xapt3r, it's pretty self explanatory. Just screw it on... Should be about the same as the xapter, pictured here http://www.teamxecuter.com/xapter/.

No the X3 does not come with desoldering braid or solder or anything other then the basic installation parts. It's up to you to supply the hammer and nails to put together the bird house! ??? LOL

You have to solder anyways if you want the hdd and lan leds. which you should, because they're freakin cool.

If you don't like soldering then get the Xapter, you don't need the lan or hdd activity led's.

the pin header install works a lot better and it is not recommend that you tape the x3 to the xbox side with the supplied pad unless you put electrical tape on the back of the x3 so the 5v trace will not short out, this has happend to many ppl. I recommed doing the pin header install even thou a wire install is easier for filled lpc holes.

I don't see how the wire install is easier if you have solder filled LPC holes. I have never held a soldering iron before I tried to desolder the holes, but it took me a very short amount of time and I would definitely recommend it.

u still have to solder with the wires install in the pinheader holes so don't u still have to desolder in the pinheader holes or do u just stick them in without soldering
