Solder point question

Hello,

I'm on my second Xbox now and on the first one, one point was missing or was just a hole but it worked anyway. On this one, there are three holes so I wonder wondering if I'm just suppose to fill them with solder and the QSB onto it.

Also, I just bought a new solder station. It's a 50 watt with 150-450 celcius. What tin should I use? Led-free or with led, what size? And what temperature should the solder iron be on with that tin? The tin I use now doesn't stick to my solder iron so I bet it's bad quality. I'm using flux from Amtech, made in China. I read somewhere that it's fake if it's from China so should I buy new flux as well?

Thanks guys and Merry Christmas to you all!

Pictures? Motherboard?

The holes are sometimes filled, sometimes not, sometimes just plating.

solder staion should be close to 400c. Just pick up some nice flux core solder. Thats what i use. And i use standard Flux liquid.
It's a falcon. So what should I do, just fill them in? They are filled on the other side of the MB. Is that the same point?

I will do that tomorrow and try again.

You can fill them in if you want. You really only need to make connection with the top part anyway.

So i just flux the area. Apply some solder to the holes needed and lay a layer over the top.

If you were using the pin header option, you would need to remove the solder.

But just a small layer of solder that is tinned to the spots that require the QSB
