Solder Wire to Wire?

Hello,

I am changing my 2.2 Pro (bad flash fried chip?) out for a new 2.6 CE. I have an XBOX 1.0 so my first install was a wire install (holes filled with solder).

I am curious as to how to change my chip.

Can I heat the wire and pull it out of the solder easily? Will the solder remain in the hole on the board? If so, then I can easily add the new wire to the correct spot.

or

Can I simply clip the old connection off the existing wires, skin the wire back and solder the new wires to the old? This seems like it may be more difficult than above.

I hope this makes sense.

Okay,

I've removed the old chip and soldered in the 2.6 CE. Now, when I power up, I get a FRAG. It boots fine with the switch disabled.

Tonight I plan to check on my solder points to assure there are no problems there. Should I consider checking anything else?

Also, I forgot to note that I do see the blue light on the mod chip light when powered on.
