Will the solderless adapter support all the feature and options of X3 or will a few additional wires need to be soldered in?

it will not support hdd and lan led's

you have to solder if you want them - its piss poor easy to do but not essential
Is the HDD and LAN activity shown on the front?

xecuter, what is the quality of the solderless adapter. i don't mean that you make bad quality stuff, your hardware is excellent, when i say quality i mean as a solderless alternative. i.e do pins become easily unaligned easily and is it just as responsive and feature rich as if it was soldered? apart from the lan and hdd leds of course.

i know your gonna say 'soldering is the best', but assuming that soldering is not an option, what is your opinion of the adapter?

if soldering was not an option what could you do besides solderless?? It's fina as long as your D0 wire stays snug in the hole good. Every other point should be fine and will have all the features as if it were soldered (not including lan/hdd activity). Thought soldereless may be a problem if you have a v 1.0/1.1 xbox with solder filled lpc holes. Solder sucking is a lot easier than soldering though so maybe you could just do that than use the solderless adapter.

i've used other solderless in in the past....

from the pictures alone, this one looks to lay flatter. Which means better conductivity and it looks solid. Can't wait to see what the 1.6 rebuild solderless will look like. I already did my 1.6 and i had to solder it, but i might buy another xbox right before xbox 2 comes out and i'll use the solderless one then.

I prefer solderd. It is better in my opinion and I always thought u got a better connection from soldering, might not be true. Plus if your going 2 solder 2 wire u might as well do the rest. :D I would definatly buy it if I wanted to just run x3 with no fancy features I also like the way the solderless had a blue go very sexy.

flashing a replacement drive questions

hey i have some n00b flashing questions. here are my 2 scenarios:
1. i have a "broken xbox" that i bought off ebay. it appeared that this xbox actually worked, it just lacked a dvd drive. is there any way to replace the drive without having the key that matches up to the mobo?

2.i have another xbox with a broken dvd drive. i found a similar drive and swapped it out thinking it was a simple plug and play (i later found out it doesn't work like this). after reading what i needed to do, i removed the green board from the broken one and replaced into a working drive with the same rom version (hitachi) but when i tried to play a game it just got a screen that said xbox360 "attempting to read media". so i've read that doing what i did may have "bricked" the xbox or drive. would flashing this drive (i'm not trying to play burned games or anything just want original firmware on there) unbrick it and allow me to play games with the broken drives circuit board?

any help is appreciated. thanks!

Re: flashing a replacement drive questions

Welcome topper. The first xbox can only be fixed if you can extract the drive key, this can be done by jtag - depending on your current dashboard version depends on if this will work or not. As for the other xbox, i will use jungle flasher to try and extract the drive key from the drive and spoof a known working drive to it. Someone else may have some better ideas here though

if its the same dvd drive you can just switch the board and it will work if not you have to flash the dvd key your best bet is getting the second up and running

From what i've heard the first system u might be out of luck, but the second one , you should be good. If u change the board it has to be the same Hitachi down to the rom ver.: (0059dj or what ever). But if that don't work jungle flash will Def do it like flushentity said! do u know how 2 use it!
