Per the news article on the X3 solderless:

"We have also produced a similar solution for the v1.6 which will blow any other design out of the water."

In other words, there is a solution in the making - it's just not released yet.

MRA hack (best way to go?)

okay last time i modded a 360 was over two years ago.

i want to get back into the scene and im starting with a liteon drive.

i am aware that for the 7xxxx and 8xxxx v1 the MRA method is not necessary.
however, i thought that i read somewhere that reading the ofw using other methods is not good because it does not retrieve the laser calibration data.
and that flashing the drive with new firmware without this data present causes the laser to burn out quickly. is this true?

Now i am aware that MRA method does do a 100% dump of the drive.

so is the MRA the best way to go for all liteon drives considering i have the skills to carry it out??

Also, since the vampire tool is used based on the MRA hack, it would also do a 100% dump, correct??

Re: MRA hack (best way to go?)

stick to original methods for those drives mate - much easier!
the calib data is test data from manufacture and is not used by the drive at all (not important) it's only copied over for completeness!

and Yes the vampire would give OFW dump! as will the CK probe 2 when it's released tomorrow! Or you could even use the LT Switch!
