Some one help me please!!

I just finished installing the X3 in my v1.0 xbox last night and with the first press of the power button, it did not enable and icon stayed red. It enabled when I pressed the Eject and Power together, but gave me a screen that was wanting me to flash the bios. I was under the impression that it can preflashed and did not need a new bios, my options on the screen were to: connect to network, flash bios from cd, lock and unlock hdd. I could not get out of that screen. Do i need to flash the bios to have it work? Please I am new to mods so am in the dark. Thanks

do a quick press of the pwr button (just a tap) and you should see the flashbios screen. this is normal.

the x3 does not come with a bios flashed to it. it has the legal cromwell flashbios on it.

you need to find the x3 bios ( 1959) and flash the chip

don't ask where to find it. you will have to search for it.

well this morning i cant even get the chip to enable no matter what i do. I think i'm going to open it up again and check all my solder points and cables etc. Thanks for the info on the bios 8) because I didn't know what it was wanting. What is the difference between a flash bios it comes with and the 1959 you told me about? One last question, do I have to use Nero to burn the iso for the bios cd or can I use any program that can burn iso's? Thanks a bunch.

The only thing the flashbios that comes with the chip does is let you put another bios onto the chip (i.e. the 1959 bios). It's the 1959 bios that you need which will let you unlock all the features of the x3.

Thanks. Also any one have a prefrence on Evox or Avalaunch??? which on is better, I have done a great amont of searching and can find almost nothing on Evox, Avalaunch on the othre hand has a website. I want to backup my games on my hdd.

Both are good ... Evox has more skins than Avalaunch but Avalaunch has more features (or so I've heard). I use Evox just because I modded my xbox long ago with a xecuter 2.3 and evox was the best one i thought at the time. It doesn't have a way to back up games onto the hd so you'll need to use dvd2xbox. I'm not sure if Avalaunch has the hd backup built in ... but here's their website: http://www.teamavalaunch.com/. AS always thanks for the information with regards to the different dashboards, I think I'm going with Avalaunch. 8) I am getting ready to install a 120 gig lockable Seagate into my ver.1.0. On copying my data from my old 8 gig (the original) to my seagate, anyone have an easy way?? some better than other?? At my disposal, I have a liksys wireless network, and a Amd 3200+ 64 bit comp, with two hdd slots (only one is being used) hope this information helps. Thanks all

also has anyone had problems with switching between the flash bios and the normal microsoft bios, once i enable my ship i cant go back to the microsoft bios. I just finished resoldering the DO grey line and fixed the enabling problem but anyone no why i cant switch back to my microsoft??

What connectivity kit thing to flash a LiteOn 74850c drive?

What would be the cheapest way to flash a LiteOn 74850c drive? I see that I need some sort of probe and some other stuff, but I haven't found a really clear explanation of what I can use!
I found THIS KIT that I think should work, but is there anything cheaper? Basically I'll gladly buy this one, but there's something cheaper I'd be fine with that

If you already have soldering tools then this will be cheaper if you can do the rma hack, if you do not have soldering tools then I would just go with your link

Why do the trace cutting hack if you can just bridge two points where the probe is supposed to go and you can read the key off of it easily. It will much much much safer and easier than the MRA hack.

I used the the CK3 Pro and CK3 Probe with iPrep 11.6 to flash my Liteon 74850C.

You can find some used ones on EBay. If you're not comfortable performing the MRA hack, this is the way to go. iPrep 11.6 only has definition files up to iXtreme 1.61, I couldn't find the correct version of iPrep that supports iXtreme LT v1.1 and uses the CK3 Pro and CK3 Probe as easily as iPrep 11.6.
