sometimes video/ sometimes not 1.6b & X3

ive got 2 boxes dated 12 sep 04 & 13 sept 04

Installed X3's to both using rebuild LPC's (nice) but getting no video, checked all solder joints get flash bios on both, so i put back together ready to flash, reboot, no video. so i check all soldering again get flashbios, so i put drives back in to flash, reboot no video.

This is happening on 2 separate boxes one chip has Flashbios 3.0.0 the other i cant tell as i cant get to the flashbios screen again.

I have a X2 programmer which ive read is now compatible with X3 (allegedley) but the chip doesnt seem to fit on, do i need to modify it in order to do so?

Or would it be easier to hotswap the X3's into an older version xbox & flash X3_1959_v16plus to them. Im assuming that is the correct bios for the 1.6b

check pin 13 or 14 or wire 13 and 14... this is actaully in a stick read them they are pretty useful

you never got video unless you booted to the ms dash plain and simple

@ Jango.. the Pin 13 & 14 video issue is only an issue after bios flashing! I hadnt flashed the bios at time of posting!
I did read all the stickies.

@ dstar2002. yes i got video with modchips disabled & M$ dash

Update. managed to flash both chips with 1959 plus bios by adding the extra pins to my own 2.3 lite installation in an older 1.3 box.

The box dated 12 sept 04 had Samsung RAM chips
The box dated 13 sept 04 had Hynix RAM chips

Had exact same problem with both boxes and both cured in same way.

I didnt have to touch the pins! once BIOS was flashed correctly i got a stable video signal no problem on both Xboxes, as i said before the pin 13/14 issue is only applicable after bios flashing & X3 bios is in place.

Hopefully this is the end of my 1.6B woes and this thread can help someone avoid the same issues i had

Fans on xbox dont work

Hi!
I am looking to buy a used xbox, but the seller says the fans dont work. they just didnt start when he was turning it on. what can that be? they cant just stop working from nothing?

will the xbox make a secdata record causing it to get banned becouse of the fans not working?

hope somone can help me a little

if it's a 3 wire connector on the fan then on the bottom of the circuit board, the large transistor closest to the 3 pins of the fan connector is going to be bad.

or the fans itself are broken, in which case 10 bucks solves the problem

and can ms detect that the fan has been of?

Change the fan and see if it solves it. No MS cannot detect it.

try placing the red and brown or just one to a 12v output on the xbox look at this tutorial

it worked for me when one of the fans stopped spinning its also goos because this method will keep the xbox cooler
