Oh...and one more thing that just came to mind that might be the problem. This drive did come out of another xbox. I used maxblast4 to erase and write 0000's to the entire drive, before I reinstalled it to this xbox.

Could this be my problem all along?

Check for problems with your soldering. Also, is this Xbox using a different signal type or is it using an HD mode or anything like that?

Sorry I've been off line for a few weeks, my PC broke down so I had to build another one.
....where were we.

Ah yes! The auto installer. Ok, I tried using Slayer's 2.6 (not really impressed) but I am comming across the same old problem. The game starts up...I can't push any buttons to advance the preview screens....then a dirty disk error before the title screen.

Check for problems with your soldering.

I did have to replace a trace on this board using a conductive pen. Could this be the problem?

if your getting a dirty disk error before the title screen your dvd is not reading the disc 100% if your runing backups then try diff media and burn at slow speed 2x max
if the the orig xbox games sounds like dvd on the way out

Let me try to catch you back up on this DJ.....We talked about this a few weeks ago if you check the logs on here. You had last suggest to reinstall everything with Slayer and try to back up the games onto the HDD again. I did this and still the same problem. I'm not running anything off of the DVD drive or a burnt disk.

did you do a full format thats the only other thing i can think of or maybe has your xbox got parental control see what it set to other then that im stuck

When you copy the games, does DVD2Xbox tell you there were any files that weren't copied properly? Try a different dashboard, EvolutionX is old and outdated. What happens with the originals? Sorry if some of these have been answered, but I don't really feel like reading 3 pages.

Yeah, evox sucks. Make sure everything is up to date, bios, dash, get rid of Evox, don't use Slayer's. Use Aid 3.0... We (the Xbox-Hq) finally have a HTTP hosting link. It's one massive .rar file to ease the downloading process. Make sure you use all the ADDON PACKS. Especially the BIOS and SKins ones... just because they're great. If you're lost, please, read the manual, it fully explains everything... in almost layman's terms.
