I think it's fine, BUT i just wanna make sure:

When I turn off the xbox, you hear the HDD *CLICK* as it turns off. Is it supposed to do that, or should there be no sound at all, just the fan turning off? I just wanna be sure the HDD isnt being damaged by turning it on/off like that..

Yeah, this is natural on the Xbox. It will not damage the drive

what did your cat do to it? did it piss on it or something? I have beaten an old crappy hard drive to the point where it was covered in huge dents, and it still worked.

knocked a brand new hdd off the table and it ruined it. I plugged it in (never been used b4), started clicking, I ingored for a day or 2, then it died

then i ate the cat (but not really)

Haha, I remembe the cat story. Yeah, depending on the drive that's normal. I know you don't have the stock drive. My WD 120 GB makes a large audible click when it turns off. Nothing wrong with it.

Heh.. my cat is scared of electronics. In fact the only piece of electrical eqiupment my cat has ever even touched was the cable of a Gamecube controller. At least the GCN meant nothing to me...
