spare dvd drive

ok so if i buy a spare dvd drive to use mainly for backing up my games do i need to extract the dvd key...and also i have a lite on so do i have to buy a spare lite on or can i use any kind of drive to flash for backing up my games ----- thanks

If your using the drive strictly for backing up games then you do not need the dvd key. If you are going to use the drive for both backing up games and using it in the Xbox then you will need the dvd key when flashing the firmware for use in Xbox.

so does it matter which spare dvd drive i buy? lite on, samsung, benq?
