Specify A Slim Drive Without Opening?

Hi,

Without opening an Xbox 360 Slim is there any way you can tell what drive you are likely to have based on wire colour or tray design etc?

I used to use 360drives.co.uk but they haven't updated it since 2012.

One of my friends slim is 2010 which im pretty sure will be a 0225 (tx replacement pcb ordered) and my other friends is 2013.

MFR date and tray type is the best indication. Up to July 2011 and you're almost guaranteed a Trinity, so D4S or Hitachi.

Corona consoles almost always ship with a D5S or Hitachi drive.

And am I right in assuming any Liteon D4S (9504/0272/0225/0401/1071) can be read and flashed with the use of only a TX Replacement PCB and PROBE 3, but Liteon D5S and Hitachi require the LTU2 board and soldering ability with extras to read the DVD key?

When you said "tray type", is there any photo to go by on TX Forums for this?

I just google 'xbox 360 slim tray' and look in images.

I don't understand why so many people are allergic to Google these days.

Listen the sound while power up without disc in the drive
1) D4S sound
2) D5S sound
