Hey guys,

I was just looking at xbox-scene.com and they had a preview of the SpiderChip solderless modchip.

Although the solution uses wires which probably is not the best contact for a chip - it should work to a certain extend and you definately can't mess up your xbox with solder, so the worst case scenario.. the thing just doesn't work.

I realize that the quality of thing is probably crap compared to X3... But what with X3 is so much better? I mean I can't even get a 1.6b compatible X3 chip right now because no one wants to reflash them with the correct version. There isn't a solderless solution for the 1.6b yet, I am aware that it's comming, but the fact that i wont be getting any games because I'm getting a modchip does factor in time. I wouldn't mind being ABLE TO USE MY XBOX sometime soon.

So it's easier to install, cheaper, and I can get it now instead of a month from now. What's worth it with the X3 to get that instead?

I'm hoping to get a biased reply so I can see the negative reply about this other solution.

If I can get any...

Other than the bad contact from the wires and suposedly lower quality.

if thats all you want to do, ge the cheapest cheapmod you can find because thats all you'll need.
little offtopic question - whats the ETA on the 1.6 Xapt3r? And are there anymore details about how it will work?

no eta and probably will never be given till its in the hands of the resellers. x3 1.6 solderless solution hasnt really been spokin of much by teamx but im sure itll be something similiar to the xapt3r adapter but not really sure exactly wat it will look like yet.

would be kind of interesting if they want to attempt this with something other than a wire construction like the spider - maybe with a PCB board and using pins comming from that to maybe make contact... i dunno.

Alright thanks, see my issue is, as much as I prefer Xecuter over all of the other brands and options, I want to have a mod-chip SOON and I can only get the 1.6b xbox.

Because someone else is going to give me the 1.6b as a gift and they already bought it. So I can effectively say that I already have a 1.6b, I just need to wait till dec. 5 (st. nicholas - dutch holiday) to get it.

I mean are they seriously the only ones with a 1.6 solderless solution?

Damn 256k does suck arse - screw this chip.

imho that is the worst designed no solder mod ive ever ever seen.

ppl have problems fitting just one d0 loom - god knows what issues we are going to see with the rest of the mess.

the kind of users and support questions that we are all going to see is going to be SO predictable

Broken Liteon Drive?

I tried to flash the Liteon drive in my Xbox 360 (FW:74850C) using the Maximus Xtractor & spear.

When I had everything connected I pressed the eject button on the kit but the drive refused to open. at no point was the drive was recognised by Jungleflasher.

On plugging the drive back in the Xbox 360 the see if it was OK the eject light continually flahsed and refused to open.

Is the drive broken or is there anyway I can still extract the key?

Re: Broken Liteon Drive?

The drive is probably not broken as you did not actually attempt to erase or flash the drive. Make sure you are following the latest Jungle Flasher tutorial exactly and are using the latest version of Jungle Flasher. I also have a Maximus Xtractor and Spear, if you use the eject button you may need to wait a couple seconds before it opens and if it doesn't open, press the eject button again. Jungle Flasher will not recognize the drive unless the correct tray position is set. Try setting the tray position manually.

Re: Broken Liteon Drive?

Thank you for your reply.

I've tried manually opening the drive and setting it in the correct position but Jungleflasher still refuses to see the drive.

I am using the latest build of Jungleflasher BTW.

Re: Broken Liteon Drive?

Well if you are doing everything correctly but Jungle Flasher still doesn't see the drive then it could be that you have your SATA set up incorrectly. It could also be that you plugged the power cable into the drive upside down and fried it.
Have you flashed any drives before? Are you sure you have your SATA configuration set-up correctly? Did you actually attempt to flash or erase the firmware on the drive? Did the drive become recognized at any point? With the spear turned on, did you touch anything metal on the drive?

Re: Broken Liteon Drive?

In answer to your questions I've flashed a few drives before but never a Liteon. SATA is set up correctly (setup hasn't changed) and working OK as it recognises other drives just not this one.

The power cable was plugged into the drive the right way (double checked it each time before turning it on).

No attempt was made to flash or erase the drive. All I have tried to do is get the drive recognised by Jungleflaher. The spear was never near the drive so it can't be that which caused this.

Re: Broken Liteon Drive?

Okay.
Has the drive been flashed before? Did the drive work properly in the Xbox 360 before you took it out and tried to get it recognized by Jungle Flasher?
Since you're working with a LiteOn drive, you should take a look at THIS.

Take a look at the Common problems and Frequently Asked Questions at the end of the Jungle Flasher tutorial and see if you can find a solution to your problem.
