Liteon 74850c spoofed as benq.

OK what a pain in the rear this one has turned out to be, this was stuck in updating dashboard (13604) loop until I worked out it needed a benq drive on there to complete that update ...sorted that out.

Now I cant dump the firmware for love nor money, I have ck3i and homemade probe (used it to dump liteons previously) this one locks up windows for periods of time (other drives are fine).

Anyway I can get it into vendor mode and can get 0x72 status, but it refuses to dump even did the old MRA hack on it today and still the same as it comes up with "unknown flash device" and windows chugs in fits and starts.

The drive ejects, acts normally, attempts to read discs but gives open tray error (laser most likely).

I just want the key off it tbh as it's on a Zephyr and I cant RGH it with xell to get the keys (tried that).

I can find a laser and make sure it reads disks and still has the correct key on it, but it still needs the firmware dumped so I can put a benq back in it.

Any suggestions beyond trying it all over again?

If you were not successful with mra, your soldering is to blame. Mra always works. If your computer freezes up, then you have a chipset problem.

In the case of a spelling error, I blame Tapatalk.

If your computer is a desktop and NOT a laptop, then get a PCI VIA Card ( Ebay is the cheapest around ) plug it into a spare PCI slot,DON'T install it's drivers, then plug your drive upto a spare SATA cable connected to the VIA card.
I must admit though,i've had quite a few Lite-On drives that were a real pain to extract the dummy.bin file but the VIA card should sort it.Oh BTW buy the proper TX probe as well,it really does work for pain in the arse drives that throw out errors or a proper difficult :)

I have a pc that is used for dumping firmware and is set up for this complete with correct via card, drivers etc.

As said I can get it into vendor mode and status 0x72 but because the flash type comes up as "unknown" then JF wont proceed.... MRA hack or not.

The Probe 3 should still work. OSIG does not stop the drive from responding as it should.

Why don't you just get the jf.log from when you first flashed/spoofed it.....unless of course this isn't your console. In which case you have two options:

1. Send the drive to someone for DVD key extraction.
2. Send the console's board to someone for CPU key extraction.

Oops fixed,

....just this minute done MRA hack again and still the same got it into vendor mode then unknown flash type etc cant continue...

... then clicked INTRO again on it (didnt do that before obviously) and it hey presto shows as correct winbond flash and reads it just fine.

Dumped 3 times for luck.

Try dosflash - I've always seemed to resolve such problems using dosflash...no freezing either, irrespective of drive type
